Looking for a dry lane ball
« on: October 13, 2003, 05:55:32 PM »
Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a good ball for dry conditions. Lately my local house has been putting out a shot that is too dry for any of my pearl resin stuff, but just a bit too much for my Blue Pearl Hammer.  I'm looking for either a solid urethane or a resin that will give me a ton of length and a controlled arc to the pocket.  Here is what I've got to offer in trades:

 16lb Hammer Blade Pearl
Single drill (RH)
Drilled with pin right of ring finger, cg in grip center
Grips, no slug, no extra holes
Never resurfaced
Coverstock in very good shape, very few knicks of significance

16lb Retro Blue Roto
single drill (LH)
Unsure of layout, but can check for those interested
Never resurfaced
Coverstock in excellent shape

Message or post with offers.

Gene what is the top weight of your Blade pearl?
Pin distance?

I would try and re-drill this ball:

Place the pin above bridge or middle finger.

place the cg at 135 degrees.

polish the hell out out of it.

the ball reaction should go long and straight and than flair and turn the corner with decent speed or it will hook set reaction.

someone bought may ball setup like this, maybe they will chime in if they left it like that.

I can send you Pics of it. just PM me with your email.

A V2 dry may fit this ticket for a down and in/ up the boards shot if there are backends, you hand etc...

Gene,

Didn't you have a Green Gargoyle?
I would have thought that would meet your criteria well.

OMEGA, SORRY MAN, I REDRILLED IT.  TO ME, IT KIND OF LOOKED LIKE A LEFTY DRILL, lol.  I WISH I HAD JUST CHANGED THE SPAN THOUGH, AS I TOO HAVE RUN INTO THE SAME PROBLEM AS GENE.

if you want a long ball that turns the corners without jumping like crazy it's worth a try.

I have become found of some of these negative drillings. a simple 105 with the cg negative really make a core stand up in the midlane so it takes the jumpiness off of it.

I will have to wait until this summer and really refine my dry lane lineup.

but I'm thinking if my V2 dry is too much in the midlane I will get another pearl ball. maybe one without a flip block so I might even have a tamer reaction. either the sling blade or the new slayr drilled at 135 deg. round that off with maybe a Blue slate gargoyle or XXL.
