Living in MD(as does Danny) shipping can be up to $24 is you're shipping to the West coast, some parts of Texas, and the Northwest, and Northern Midwest via UPS and up to 17-18 via Fed-Ex.  There's no use charging around 15 bucks and having the potential to lose up to 7 or 8 bucks if you're shipping anywhere west of Michigan, especially if the ball you sold only amounted up to about 20-25 bucks.

The way I look at it is...You see the shipping charges before you bid. Just add that to your max. bid. If the shipping is 20 and you're not willing to spend more than $50, then don't bid more than $30. You're not getting ripped off with people charging high ship rates, unless you overbid what the total is worth. Shipping from NC to anywhere in the North West area runs me $21-$25 for a ball.

I agree.  You need to look at the total dollar amount for the transaction.  Who cares how it's broken down?  Paying $10 for a ball and $50 for shipping is no different then paying $50 for a ball and $10 for shipping.  You are still out $60 either way, so what's the big deal?

There is an in-state dealer who sells on Ebay. I asked him if I could get a better rate on shipping because I was so close and actual shipping was around $10.00 bucks. He said no, that $20.00 was his fixed shipping charge. His damn ball is still for sell on Ebay.

20.00 bucks to ship a ball is really high.

You can ship an 18lb package from Baltimore, Maryland 21204 to Seattle, Washington 98110 for $15.34.

Where does it cost to ship a ball for $20.00 bucks?

The reason we all gouge on shipping on ebay is to avoid giving money over to ebay. The more we charge for shipping, the less we're handing over to ebay.

Here you go... this is from one of my receipts at the time it cost me $23.66 but now its $22.70. Go to UPS website and do a 16# package measurements are 10x10x10 from 27803(NC) to 98295(WA). Cost is $22.70

Its not being a theif. Example: If I have a V2 for sale and I posted it here for $50 shipped, what is the difference if I were to put it on ebay for "buy it now" of $25 and $25 for shipping? There is no difference. You're gonna pay $50 for it either way.

Shipping from So Dak to Alabama is very expensive and so is the other way. I have spent my fair share to UPS for shipping. So yes shipping can be very expensive.

Buy it now is not any different than a traditional auction. The bidder should pre-determine what the ball is worth before bidding. If $50 is all the ball is worth to you, then don't bid over that $25 max. If someone out bids your max. then the ball must be worth more to them than you. In that case, let them take it. I just dont see the big deal. I have sold a few balls on ebay and some I have charged $20 for shipping and some $17, but like I said...I have had to pay  $18-$22 several times. When I sell here, I will find out the zip code of the buyer first and then charge actual shipping. Its not that easy when dealing with ebay b/c you don't know where the winner lives until afterwards.

I think what he meant is that eBay fees are calculated on the final selling price, not on shipping.

Exactly, this is what I'm trying to say, evidently many people do not understand the concept.

If you don't have the time, energy, or ability to figure out that $50 shipped is the same whether i put $49.99 with $0.01 shipping and $20 shipping but with $30 original price, you shouldn't be buying on ebay. As a one time heavy ebay seller of non-bowling products, I can tell you that this is a practice that if you don't participate in, you are handing your money over to ebay. Calculate the total shipping cost into the price, bid, and pay the same amount, simple as that.

I guess some people on here would rather have large corporations grab profits than save me money personally. Wouldn't you also say that the people on here who say "$30 shipped" on here are price gouging, since their profit might be anywhere from $10-20 depending on shipping costs?
