Not Good!

Did you use a credit card or bank account for your Paypal transaction.
If you used a credit card you can file a fraud claim with the CC company.
I had something similar happen to me on a laptop from ebay and I was able to get my funds back through my CC company.
Since this happened I only use credit cards for Paypal transactions unless I know for sure the seller is trustworthy.
Paypal's buyer protection policy is BS in my opinion.

No, I used money I had in my Paypal account.

I had a CC fraud case last year (not on-line), that took 4 months to resolve.
Signature wasn't mine...Purchase was split between American Express and MasterCard.
I only use American Express...did not have a MasterCard...turned out to be an employee at a store, he got busted. Nothing happened to him legally...he was fired, though.

It does suck. eBay and Paypal, sweet businesses to own...NO LIABILITY!
The Feds should step in on both of the companies, and make them take responsibility...

PayPal will push off responsibility to anyone but themselves. I sold a ball to a guy in Italy, had it insured via USPS. He claimed he never got the ball and they took out almost $200 from my account. I appealed and lost because Italy does NOT allow signature receipts , from Postal Service.

I got a letter from USPS and the Italian Post, they delivered the ball 4 days before PayPal took out my money, now he has a ball and I lost out . PayPal will do nothing, almost makes me NOT want to do business overseas, but very few do, so there's a nich in there for me.

PayPal is NOT what it advertises, safe and secure....far from it, except safe and secure in their bank account !

I hope you guys get your money back, someday, maybe.....Good Luck !

I think PayPal should take money out of "Jeff"'s account and bring it in to the negative. I'm sure PayPal could get the money if they REALLY wanted to...

There's no reason for Paypal to do so.  That would cost them money each and every time they had to do that.  Much more profitable for them to tell the victim that they 'won' the dispute but are out of the money which in most cases came from their bank accounts.  I wonder how they handle disputes that involve their Paypal credit card?

I had the same problem with Pay Pal. The guy I dealt with got seven others.
MIne was $275 the total was $3000. They would not give us the thief's real name and address or any other info. they said his rights had to be protected.
Pay Pal is not anyones PAL.
I now use a credit card or bank M.O.
