How much are these worth????
« on: April 25, 2012, 10:41:50 PM »
I just found 2 NEW?NEVER DRILLED GemTek polyester 15 lb-ers!

1 is GOLD SPARKLE like the OLD Gold Bruns Crown Jewel and the other is MAROON/BURGANDY SPARKLE!

GemTek is the company that produced the original Rose ball like the ball used in the movie King Pin with Bill Murray and Woody Harrelson.

Any estimate on the value????????????

What role did Tom Hanks play in King Pin? I have seen that movie 1000 times, and don't recall seeing him for one second...

JDiesel you are CORRECT!! It was Bill Murray and NOT Tom Hanks. At least this shows me that some are looking at this

Estimated value --> using other eBay sellers "buy it now" starting prices, seem to be $250 each.... Although I'm not convinced anyone has ever/actually our bought one at that price.

It would be interesting to see what one might bring on eBay, given no reserve, outrageous starting price.

Personally, I would have no special desire for one, outside of utility as a spare ball.  Maybe a little extra for uniqueness, so I would say $50 to $60 would be a lot of money for one....

NIB 15lb Gem Tec balls will get you $200 to $500 on Ebay, during the bowling season.

I would list the ball, and put a reserve price on it, and just keep listing it till you get the price you want.

For instance I sold a ball not too long ago for $40.   The buyer did not pay and I resisted it a week later.   This time the ball sold for $80.

I would reserve price it at around $200 - $250 and see what happens.

GemTek is the company that produced the original Rose ball used in the movie King Pin with Bill Murray and Woody Harrelson.

I believe the actual "Rose Ball" used by Murray in Kingpin was made Columbia. The original Gemtek goes back to the 70's and they didn't think they could find a new one, so the movie had Columbia pour one.
