Looking for a Medium/Dry lane ball with a strong backend
« on: June 03, 2003, 08:01:02 AM »
A friend of mine needs a Medium/Dry to Dry lane ball that gets GREAT length but has a nice continuous backend.

Something like a ScreamR drilled weak with the PIN high above the fingers, and CG near grip center; OR, a Tornado drilled for some length and good backend.

He prefers USED.

Thanks!

This works great on med lanes. Its polished and a skid/snap ball.15lb El nino X-it,original drill, no plugs, 2 1/2" pin under the ring finger and cg kicked to the right with a small weight hole .
$45.00

Thanks but the X-it is was too much ball (even if polished) for this condition.

Doug Sterner, how much backend does the Big Hit Solid have? Also, are we talikng about the reddish/gray colored one or the blue one? I know it gets alot of length, but is the backend similar to the the Too Hot in any way?

I'd kill to bowl in an "All-Plastic/UreThane" league.

I've had great luck with the Core Power HRG for these conditions

Ric,

It really depends upon your friend's speed, but here are a few choices that can work pretty well on medium to drier shots.

Blade Pearl (Best med-dry lane ball I've ever thrown)
Green Gargoyle (You'll have a hard time finding more backend than this)
Eraser Boost (Some very light shine might be needed)
  Wicked
  Erase-It
  Angle Evolution Extra

There are certainly others, but I've seen this group do bad, bad things on the shot you're describing.  Hope it helps.

Maybe one of the 'Tudes (1,2 or 3) would work too.

I have a 15 lb. Scream/R drilled nearly identical to your request.  Cg out a little farther.  Never been plugged or resurfaced.  Excellent conditon.  Let me know if you would be interested.  Scott
