Need an unbiased opinion from those with experience
« on: June 22, 2005, 06:05:27 AM »
Hello,

I want to know what those of you who have done a lot of buying/selling think is the fairest way to handle this situation.

I recently bought a ball from another user on this site.  I was not satisfied with the ball as it was in a much different condition than I was told in the messages we sent back and forth.  When I got the ball, I told the user I was unhappy, and he offered to refund my money.

However, he wants me to send the ball back and to receive it BEFORE he refunds my money.  I don't think this is fair or correct since I would have no recourse if he chooses not to make the refund after he gets the ball back.  I would like to know the opinions of the experienced users here on this matter.  TIA

just that intsy-bitsy detail that he may not send the money back because he's already happy with the deal.  so then you're stuck with bad ball.

If, and don't take offense on either one's part, If both people are honest and good people, I'd ask for the money back, then send the ball back to him/her. I'd insure it, just so he/she couldn't say they never got the ball back.

just my opinion.

Just nicely say you would rather receive the money and then send the ball.

I did say that in a message, and got this back:

"Would you get the money back from Wal-Mart and then take the item back....I don't think so."

I understand what he is saying, but I sent him the money on the promise of him sending the ball (which he did).  So, to me, it should be the same in return.

I have sold over 100 balls on here new and used, number 1 i never ship out without payment first!!! Number 2 i would refund the money and shipping cost to you if you did not like what i sent to you in the first place.

I have never had a bad transaction yet about ball quality even though i have been pronged twice now on used ball buys and i still never posted the bad deals on here anyway and just ate the money and threw the balls in the dumpster.

I would honestly want the ball back first so i back this guy up on his feelings because of some recent dealings i have read about on buyers/sellers forum.

Um... C.O.D. is cash on delivery ya know (he can get a cashier's check).

Right now you are at an impass. Neither of you want to send either equiment or money first. So right now looks like you got yourself a ball unless you can arrange something. COD at least he HAS to give the money for the product before recieving it, but at least it's right there and its an exchange at the time. Don't see any other way if you don't trust each other...
