Looking for a JIG
« on: March 28, 2004, 11:09:58 AM »
I've got access to a Drill Press but I don't have a JIG.

Does anybody have one for sale?

If you have a K-Mart closing anywhere near you, you can probably get their entire drilling/measuring setup for under $300.00!

I don't think you are going to find one of these at K-mart.  Bowling ball jigs are a highly specialized piece of equipment.  You don't just find these at the local Home Depot.  I looked into it a while ago.  You can buy them from Jayhawk, but it was like $800.00!  Your best bet is to build one yourself. All it takes in a compound slide table, horizontal toggle clamps, a little steel piping and a little welding.  I've got a guy that has a CD on how to build one, PM me and I'll get you his email address.

K-Mart sells and drills cheap bowling balls. When the K-Mart here closed, I was just barely beaten to the punch by a friend of mine to buy their setup. He got the press, jig, measuring ball, bits, and all, for $250.00!  So yes, there's a chance to get one from a K-Mart that is closing! (they don't sell them commercially)
