I think I need lighter equipment...help
« on: January 04, 2004, 06:58:35 AM »
I have 2 15# Monsters and I think I need lighter equipment now because I have tendonitis in my wrists. One is a Monster Bruiser, one is a Monster SlayR. They each have maybe 30 games on them, if not less. I want to trade these off for lighter equipment, or at least I am thinking about it right now. Message me some offers so I can see whats out there. They are drilled label (pin up and right of ring) with cg kicked out right. Approx. 4 inch span. Looking for some 13, possibly light 14# balls drilled RH. Oh and both of the monsters have had the thumb plugged and redrilled, but only once. Still look very nice. Message me like I said with some offers. But please give me some time because I am not sure if I am going to do this for sure.

place the ball in one hand ahead of you and if you cannot hold the ball without pain it is too heavy for you. Without knowing you all it might be is a robbys wrist brace like i use or they make a band that goes around your forearm under your elbow that most pro shops or sporting good stores stock. I started bowling in 1998 with 16lb balls thinking i was being a mans man but found out that going to 15 lb increased revs and for me accuracy. So maybe you should try the band around your forearm or brace first hope this helps-barry

I also just remembered a tip from my coach Bill Hall your span should be that your knuckles are slightly bent upward at the second knuckle. I watched norm duke, danny wiseman and many other videos he has on his computer and they all have slightly bent fingers which increases revs, this might be the problem causing you pain from a too long of a span problem. Ok now figure out your problem weight or span too long bye

My span is fine. Its just that with this tendonitis, which Im pretty sure it is, even if I wear a brace, the tendons in my hand hurt from holding it with my fingers. I just think Im going to try maybe a heavy 13.

Been there, done that. Had to drop to 14 due to tendonitis in the elbow. Best move I made. After a 4 week lay-off, my driller had surprised me with a ball set-up for me, and I immediately was bowling pain-free
A few weeks later, bowling in a Tournament, had a 6 game block on Friday nite, 15 games on Saturday, and another 9 on Sunday.....all pain free!
I have not really noticed any difference in scoring, but did notice no pain! There was an increase in ball speed and revs, which probably balanced out the reduced 1lb in ball weight.
