HIGH COST:
MO-RICH (Notice the word rich in there)
LANE 1: Their Logo is a Diamond....what do you expect.
Brunswick Technology Ventures: The long name justifies the high price.
Who do you feel is most reasonable and unreasonable in way of $$$$ spent

Well, for the performance vs. price, I have to say Track is the best right now, not too far behind is Storm.

How am I supposed to knock all 10 down with one ball?!?
-
If you have a PBA card Lane 1 actually has reasonable prices. Thus, I do not have one, but know of a few people who do.
I don't think you can really compete with Visonary prices. Their Gargoyle line is super versatile and virtually inexpensive to boot. You can purchase both balls for less than the price of most high end equipment.

Peformance to price ???? Roto Grip has it hands down!! And if you haven't thrown anything from the Silver Streak line,...don't argue!!!

I have to agree with Jeff. Roto Grip has it with the Silver Streak Line. I am only missing the Solid and if I didn't have my V2 solid already in that spot I would get it too. Including shipping and drilling I only spent $40 more than my V2 ($220 locally) a year and a half ago for both the SS Pearl and Particle ($250 for Both from Doug Sterner)

Wow, that's outrageously high for a V2. An Apex must be $250 or more, no? Or are they charging top-of-the-line prices for the Vortex balls?
I'm too poor (cheap?
) to buy new balls, so it really doesn't matter to me.

This was a while ago and this was for thumb and finger inserts too. His regular price is $179+tax+inserts. That is why he only does my maintenance work and stuff I need to do locally. Doug gets all my new ball business. The worst of it is he is one of the cheapest in town and he is on the Pros staff for Ebonite. I think he does charge $209 for the Apex's and $219 for TPC's. He even charges $130-150 for Savages and Predators. Like I said, that is why I don't buy new locally anymore.

How about the new Hammers? The Blade series has got to be the best ball out there for the money bar none! C'mon Hammerheads, back me up here! All of the Diesels are excellent buys as well. Haven't thrown the Vicious, so can't say.

spike212,
Coming from an ex-hammerhead and now back again hammerhead, I agree with you totally on the Blade and Diesel series. I have a Blade reactive and have a Sling Blade coming and recently drilled up a Turbo Diesel and I love that ball.
I have not tried the Vicious series enought to comment. I also know user g_thing loves the Blades and Hammers as well. I know because he made me see the light and come back home to be the Hammerhead that I am once again!!
Remember, Nothing hits like a Hammer!!

I have to back up the hammerheads. I have the Diesel Particle and the Diesel Pearl and they are awsome. I also have the blade pearl which hits and ton and you can also open up the lanes. I have had the original vicious that was also a good ball but I think that is was no better than my Diesel particle. But as far as cost and performance I think the Blade Series and the Diesel series have to be in the top 2. Hammer is back and they have definately did their homework on reactive and particle this time.

My feelings on this..
Reasonable...
Columbia - Messenger Series...WOW/Wicked/Wild......excellent
Track - Hex Series, Voodoo, Thrash, Mojo.....excellent...
Unreasonable..
Lane 1..........you have got to be kidding me...do they cook and clean and do my laundry for those prices???...
Only my humble opinion....

Hey King, I'll back you up on that last statement. I have my first Lane 1 and it won't be my last. From now on, I'll never buy anything except Lane 1.
-
Lane #1 is the bomb.
-
I have tried Lane 1...... No thanks.
Ty
-
I have tried Lane 1....
Ball rolled down lane.....hooked a bit...hit pins.....and left some sometimes and left none other times....didn't break pins apart...didn't leave skid marks on the lane....didn't cook me dinner or do my laundry....just did what bowling balls tend to do..........for almost a 100 bucks more than my most expensive piece of equipment.
To me...not worth the added cost........but that is just me.....

I have tried lane 1 before and don't see what all the hype is in there equipment. I would much rather have a hammer in my hands to be smashing the diamonds apart and save a little cash for the family. Lame 1 just does not impress me.
-
Lane 1.......as everyone else said.........too much money, too much hype, not enough performance. I USED to have an all Lane 1 arsenal and wathced my average drop 10-15 pins. So I sold all the crap for as best as I could
I find that AZO and Visionary BREAK pins while all my old Lane 1 equipment struggled to carry the back row. Those manufacturers bowling balls HIT so HARD that carry isn't even suspect.
Many claim that 16# balls don't carry well because of their structure, I say go out and buy the right 16# ball.

My list of great value balls,
Columbia:Wicked and Wow along with the Game series
Dynothane:Vendetta series
Roto-Grip:Silver Streak line
Storm:Eraser series
Brunswick:Monster line
Track:Hex line
Ebonite:Cat line
Visionary:Gryphon series
The bottom line is with the exception of Morich and Lane 1 a patient bowler can get the best of any manufacturer at reduced prices if they are willing to wait for the reincarnations that are sure to follow.
