Title: WTB: Thumb Slug Puller
Post by: Pat Patterson on April 02, 2013, 07:19:44 PM
Looking for a Thumb Insert/Slug Puller.  Checked online with Jayhawk, Innovative, Buddies and a few others.  Any help would be greatly appreciated in finding one.

Is there such a thing? For thumb inserts I can usually jam a thin screwdriver in between the ball and insert, then use needle nose pliers. As far as a slug, I drill them out.

Yes,  I've had one for about 20 years now but it is broken now.  it allows you to pull an existing slug out without damaging it.  My friend has a very compact slide hammer type (like the ones used in the auto body repair industry), but his is apparently a one of-a-kind.

I've seen it once at a pro shop I use to work at.  We never used it as it was not all that good at getting the slugs out.   I think Ultimate bowling products made it or one of those off brand companies.

The problem was you needed to get the tab of the slide hammer under the slug and if you bottomed the slug out you couldn't do that.
