- Description: The Nail Smoke and Fire is a new price-point for Hammer with the return of a hugely successful core shape: the Doom core! We've modified the Doom core to be slightly higher in RG and a little lower in differential, to give us a solid performance ball that fits between the Vibe series and the Hammer Arson. With the combination of a 4000 grit polished coverstock, the Nail is designed to get clean down the lane and create more backend than our Grape and Midnight Vibe. The Nail Smoke and Fire will be at home on medium-dry lane conditions.

Nail the competition with the new Nail Smoke and Fire! The Doom core is back and is ready to Hammer medium-dry lane conditions. Where there's smoke, there's fire! The new Hammer Nail!

Got this ball for my birthday, 14 lb, oob finish, pin drilled between bridge, i consider myself a stroker, with med revs and slow to med speed, 198 avg.  i bowl on wood lanes with guardian.  1st 2 weeks of league i was able to break 500. The third nite (last mon) i tried a different shot, from 15 to about 7, and shot 216, 257, and 269 for a nice 742. this ball is stronger than i thought, gets thru heads great, then seeks the dry, and goes left, and for the price it is well worth getting one.

LANE CONDITION

Length:42

Volume:heavy

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):Kegel Autobahn

COMMENTS

Likes: The Nail is a lot stronger than expected. I sanded the ball to 2000 with a stack leverage drilling. The Nail picked up in the midlane and rolled real heavy on the back. Carry was great. The pattern played tight on Pro Anvil lanes. The Nail had no trouble picking up in the fronts and midlane with good continuation on the back.

LANE CONDITION

Length: 40 feet

Volume: Medium

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): Flat Pattern

COMMENTS

Likes:  When the heads start breaking down and I need to play deeper.  This ball really gets plenty of link and good arcing backend.  I went with 75x5x35 Dual Layout.  I can't wait to try on a shorter pattern like 35.

LANE CONDITION

Length:

Volume:

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):THS, several Kegel patterns

COMMENTS:  When I heard we had a release coming out with the DOOM core, I was very excited......and the Nail does not disappoint!

Likes:This ball has a great reaction when it's time to move in.  The Shredder Reactive Pearl cover allows this ball to clear the heads easier than the VIBES with a stronger downlane move.  This ball hits a ton.

Dislikes:This ball is not a fan of heavy oil in my hand.

What a ball Hammer came out with when Jeff Ussery brought back the Nail name with the Smoke and Fire Nail. I run a pro shop and have never had a ball that fits into so many age groups. From young to older customers this ball works for everyone. Its a ball that has plenty of hook potential for a cheaper price. Its good for all age and experience. If your just starting in bowling this is the ball for you. Very controllable but enough hook to make you happy. I recommend this ball to anyone I know. For me this is a ball I can go to in the second game and stick with it all night. If your in the market for a ball that is best bang for your buck get the Nail Smoke and Fire.
