Description: Featuring the High Mass Bias Gas Mask Core with Flip Block and new Violent Bite Reactive coverstock, the Black Widow Bite is what we moderately call “aggressive”. The Black Widow Bite expands the performance offerings in the Black Widow series by offering a stronger hook motion with more aggressive backend. Take that as a warning.

The Bite is best described as "Aggressive."

Drilled: Stacked, not an overly aggressive drilling, the ball still easily opens up the lane.

----0-0---
-------*--
-------.---
-----O----
------mb--

Style: I’m a cranker speed around 17 mph, rpm around 450 slightly more on some shots.

First Impression: At first I had problems controlling this ball. The reaction was either hook/set or it would just burn up soon as it hit the lanes. I brought the surface to 2000/polished and liked the reaction shot a few 700’s but still wasn’t very happy with the overall performance.  After about 50 games I decided to bring the ball to 2000 without polish. This change seemed to bring the ball to life. Now this ball kills fresh oil.

Reaction: The type of reaction I got out of the 2000/polish was length with a large snapping backend. Slightly hard to control. Without polish the ball still clears the heads make a big transition around 40 feet and has an incredible backend, like a huge dependable arc/snap reaction but with a controllable mid lane transition/set up.

Comparisons: The backend is very similar to my Hammer No Mercy, but with a midlane that the no mercy lacks.

Strengths: Heavily oiled heads, clean backends.

Weaknesses: Dry heads/short patterns

Overall: The Bite is a very good ball. The carry is excellent, and the roll consistent. I recently shot 664 in the last three games of  a U.S Open qualifier. A little to jumpy for the fresh, but once the pattern opened in the mid lane the ball was insane, when everyone struggled in the transition to burn, I stood out in the field.

Video: A simple video on THS 42 feet freshly oiled.

I just bought mine last week. I threw it a few times in practice and decided it was better left in the bag. It was less aggressive than my Black Widow. Ill have to experiment will different surfaces or a new drilling.

I just bought one the other day and my first three games i bowled were on dry lanes that had been bowled on for 12 hours that day. Not the ideal conditions for the bw bite. I was playing all the way left, firing it all the way right and on the off occasion, still having it cross over. Dont get me wrong its still a monster of a ball. I'm sure on good oiled conditions, it will be a beast. I shot a 658 with it out of the box, but had it been better conditions, it probly would have been higher. The black widow bite truly does bite on the backend. I reccomend this ball to anyone with good speed and high revs especially.

Very true in your remarks.  I have a Bite and I really like.  I bowled my first sanctioned 300 with it on 3-6-08.  However, if I can't get it through the heads I put it back in the bag and pull out my Pearl or Original BW.  The Bite is a great ball if I can get it through the front end.  I also have a Resurgence and I have the same front end issues with that ball.

I am sure that by this time everyone has heard all about this ball but for those that are maybe still considering getting a new ball I thought I would post my review. I bought this ball to use in a house that is usually heavy oiled every week. Needed something that I could get to turn the corner. I am not a tech guy so I cant really give you the specs, I will just say that I had it drilled to go long and flip hard. And that is exactly what it does. I had been using the Fury by Brunswick and had to play pretty straight and take it easy on the ball speed just to get it to the hole. I took this out and was able to move 5 boards left and belly the ball out without any fear of not making it to the pocket. And the ball hits very hard. I had the Original Black Widow and that ball was a great ball on the backend but the Bite has even a little more than the original. I would recommend this ball to anyone looking for a strong skid/flip type of bowling ball. I am a Storm fan but it seems like the stuff Hammer is putting out is hard to beat right now.

First of al your not allowed to post on this site if you dont like the ball.

Well I drilled my bite with the pin at 3 oclock of course it was a litle off label with one half ounce side weight and no finger weights. Can you still mention static weights on here? House shot top hat. Kegel defense. lanes fresh as a daisys buttox.Im a tweener with decent ball speed medium revs (DUH).
Ball did not hit like advertised it was very soft in the pocket and left many ten pins. Id stay away from thi ball unless you are a high rev player.
Needless to say id rather see the 40 something player in a better peice of equipment.Storm Gravity Shift or Brunswick twisted fury. If you get to read this before they remove it. Good Luck and Great Bowling

Stud God, if your spelling and grammar is anything like your bowling no wonder why you didn't like the ball.

I got mine a couple of months ago to see how it was in that time period it is one of the hardest hitting balls i have thrown in a while and the most hooking. It is drilled pin above ring finger factory finish. I have 4 700s with it so far cant use it alot because it hooks to much for some of the medium oil but got it on a 43 foot house shot  749 with it iam impressed with this one i cant wait for the venom to come out another good widow probably

This is going back to further review of the bw bite from 5 months ago.

Ive averaged 210 for a season with it and have had multiple 700s.

I also use it on a PBA Teen Sport Shot league.
I've found the most sucess with it on the scorpion, shark and cheetah patterns. On the scorpion and shark, i took a little off of my revs
(400+ revs) and i averaged just under 200. On the cheetah pattern, i hook the entire lane and since it is drilled to snap violently in the backend, it just took off. I average around 205 on the Cheetah pattern. Last week, i shot a 741 on it. Ball is pretty much good all around. Im 17 years old btw.

High Game: 300

I just drilled this ball on the advice of my coach. He gave me the drilling of pin 4 1/2"from pap, CG 4" from pap,and the weight hole is 5 inches from the center of my grip line threw the CG. I love this ball on a first shift or heavier oil shot. The first thre games I shot 759 out of the box. It rolls evenly and keeps rolling threw the pins. It also makes up for a few mistakes if you throw it a little too far right.I can see this being one of my favorites on the med-heavy to heavy oil conditions.

Ok i don't know much about drilling patterns. Hell, Im a bowler, not a pro shop driller. The pin is to the upper right side of ring. I think the pap is 4.5 not sure. I bowl at el derado lanes. The oil there is fair medium. 38 ft. Im a tweener/cranker put alot of power in the ball. 16-17 mph speed. 15lb ball. This ball is amazing, when i got it at first it didn't hook at all because i didn't throw it right. but when i did, it went through the heads and pines and took a left-turn to the pocket. I wipe the oil down after every frame. Wen i used to not do this, it won't move an inch. My high scores was 248 ,242 244
Its a amazing ball despite of all the bad reviews, and i apologize for those who got this ball defective. mine works pretty good. All in all its a great ball if you maintain it properly.

Just got this ball and love it already.  My 1st 15lb ball.  Made the weight change down due to chronic wrist pain.  This ball hits like a tank.  Only two sets with it so far but there is nothing I don't like about it.  Gets down the lane easy and turns the corner hard with good carry on good shots.  Recovers well when leaked.  The only thing you don't want to do with this ball is get slow with it because it will run.  First two sets out of the box: 763 & 750!

Black Widow Bite
Lane Conditions: Medium-Heavy Oil
Typical Conditions: House Shot
Type of Lane: All Synthetic
What part of the lane did you play? Third Arrow
Did the ball track out? Normal
Weight of bowling ball: 15
Surface of bowling ball: Sanded
What grit was the surface of the ball? 1000
Likes: Makes a very strong and continuous move through out the entire lane.
Dislikes: Hooks way to much and early on drier lane conditions.

Lay Out 3 3/8 X 4
Overall it's very versatile will take a polish well to help get done the lane some. It's going to be mostly an oil ball. Rev Dominate players will have to use only in oil, Speed dominate players can use in heavier but will be best suited for medium oil lanes. Doesn't really match up very well on dry lane conditions.

Comparing to What's In My Bag:

Pin Slasher with same layout gets a little more length than the Black Widow Bite, and makes a much angular motion to the pocket. The Bite is more continuous and overall covers more boards.

Black Widow Venom with same layout reacts exactly like the Black Widow Bite with the same surface. But the polish makes it go longer and give you the same continuous motion just later on the lane.

Rev Rate: 375+
Ball Speed: ~16Mph through pin deck (~20 off hand)
Layout: 5.5x 5 Pin Above
Surface: Box
Expectations: Strong for Oil

Impression:

I got this ball to fight a heavy oil THS condition. I wanted a ball that jumps off the spot after traveling through heavy oil. The shot is a big top hat about 40 feet.

I got what I wanted. Playing 13 to 8 the ball got angular for me and my scores went up. I felt that it could get better so I took the surface down to 2000 and it did playing 15 to 8. However when the pattern breaks down and I get my feet left to 20 to 8 it looses hit. I pull out the Venom and it is too weak. I needed a ball inbetween. So I got a BW perl.

Lane Condition: Very Dry
Pin Placement: Pin over Gripline

just got this ball.  So far it hooks a lot and pretty aggressive in the backend.... definitely a great ball for fresh oil, but when it comes to the dry lanes ill stick to my "Drilled to go Way long" total inferno
