Likes:  The Black Widow RED Legend follows up with the success of the Legend by adding a pearlized coverstock to offer a BIG backend motion to compliment the Legend & Assassin. This ball reminds me so much of the Black Widow Pearl which was one of the favorite Widow series ball of all time. The Red Legend is much cleaner through the front part of the lane than the Legend and offers a bigger backend motion than the Assassin & Legend. For me, this ball is about 3-4 boards weaker overall than the Legend, and about 3-4 boards stronger overall than the Assassin. The motion that sets this on different than the previous Legend & Assassin is that the Red Legend is more angular down the lane. This ball will work well with all styles of bowlers and offer a strong backend flip when you need more angle down the lane.

Dislikes:  For me, this ball is too over/under for the fresh patterns, but really excels when during the transition & when you need to move in and open up the lane. When using it on the drier patterns, it still got through the front part of the lane with ease, but due to my rev rate, it was burning up a little bit. Therefore, I would recommend it for the medium to medium heavier patterns.

With the new 3 year warrantee that Hammer provides for this ball, this is the BEST bang for your buck!

I think this ball will be a must have ball for those that had the original Black Widow Pearl or those that want a BIG backend flip motion down the lane. This ball has a great motion that does not stop rolling in the backend – it really continues through the pin deck! Very versatile ball… You will be impressed!

I just got my Black Widow RED Legend drilled yesterday, and threw it in league last night,
I'm rh, i had it drilled with the #1 drilling, pin located just between fingers, mass bias right of thumb. I bowl on synthetic, ths, more oil in middle, less on the outside. First game, i was throwing 15 to 10, and the ball gets down the lane great, and then it's "left turn clyde", i have not thrown a ball that turns that far left that quick, i was leaving corner pins, mainly 10 pin. I was going to put it away for 2nd game, but friend suggested i move up on the approach, so i did, and started to carry corners, the hit and carry is as good as my assassain, but more length, and definately more turn.  I likey.

LANE CONDITION

Length: 38' & 45'

Volume: Heavy

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): 2013 USBC Masters & 45 Challenge Pattern

COMMENTS

Likes:  Smooth on the fronts, strong continuous angle to the pocket, used Dual Layout 80 x 4 1/2 x 20 for medium lane conditions or when the lanes start to open up, love the versatility and the ball flares all the way around the ball.  This ball will work with different styles.

Dislikes:  On shorter flatter patterns, need a stable layout, too over under if you try to use on fresh patterns.

I'm very pleased on what this ball can do and you can adjust the surface if you want to use on fresh.  The best overall condition would be medium to medium heavy.  Thanks again Hammer for making a great ball!

The Black Widow Red Legend Pearl is a great ball. For a pearl ball it picks up a bit earlier than normal but it still has that Famous Black Widow backend. This ball is great once the heads start to burn up a bit as you move in. Would be a great ball for National. A great combination would be a Bad Intentions and this Widow Legend Pearl. Couldnt have a better 1-2 punch in your bag in league or tournament play.

COMMENTS
Likes: OHHHH YEAH!  Strong and continuous!  This ball will make a direction change.  The roll of this ball is very nice, strong, and PREDICTABLE!  It is nice to have a piece in my bag that makes a consistent move in oil/on oily lanes.   You will absolutely love this ball.  If you liked the Black Widow Legend, the Red Legend will
not disappoint.  She continues more through the pins than the black legend.

Dislikes: Sometimes can be too strong as the lane breaks down.  You could always move in a this ball will still make the corner, but it usually makes more sense to go to something else in Hammers line better suited if you feel more comfortable with less aggressive and staying in the same spot.

Layout:
5 x 4  PIN over ring with no extra hole.

Box Specs:
15lb 4oz 2"-3" 3.00oz

Review:
This ball gets thru the front pretty easy with a strong turn in the back end. It has a little mid-lane movement with the OOB finish but I found this ball to be quite angular in shape. For me, it works best for later transition (2nd shift of league), shorter patterns, and when there's lots of back end. For over-walls and wet/dry it was not good at all. I'm sure some surface adjustments would have helped but that's what the other Widow Legends are for. The ball stores energy nicely. Off pocket hits carry exceptionally well with this pearl. I never threw many widows of old but this one is one of my favorites.

BW Red Legend is the pearlized version of the BW Legend Hybrid.  I found this red pearl easier yet, through the fronts with the seemingly unlimited recovery expected of the Gas Mask core balls.  I can get as deep as the lane condition requires with no fear of losing the rack ripping power.  A++++ from Hammer!
