Ball NPS Score: Not Available

Has classic inner core, wrapper around with the Power Track pearl cover.  Pearl green color.  16lb rg rating is 2.49 with a dif .037.  This ball is intended to go longer than the solid, but not as long as the pearl, and the lower rg core allows this ball to have a more controlled hook than the solid, but still has the length because the cover is weaker than the solid.

Man!!Yahooooooooo,Ya guys finally put up a pix on this puppy!
I bought mine a little over a week ago,BRAND NEW!I did mine
with a LOW RG,but strong layout,BUT 1/2 out farther,3''inches not the normal 2 1/2 pin out way than I would normally do.I must of confused the "drillboy",about a REV LEVERAGE/FULL ROLL combo.I want this to hook nice and smooth.Ok,its the dreaded test time again, this night was actually LAST monday! It was oily as usual.I threw the first ball, annn, hmmm? Its got a interesting slide, but rolls with SOLID tame control potential!BTW,no strike on this first ball, darn!!I mean one can control this puppy with a few games.Great ball for tricky spares too!I picked a few of 2,5,6,9 combos(famous group of 4,many of get three sometimes) with no overhooking or guttering,I just had to mention that!Like I mentioned tame control.I noticed too, this Sling can and will produce strike, like all shinny hammers I've messed with you have to adjust a little.I like this ball, its a nice green, but I think ONE will need its cousin the "Turbo Diesel" for hevier conditions.I still havent tried on Sport yet,BUT I have b-ball that can take care of that, overall rating ""A-"".One has to give it a chance for its hook control,at least for now,I've tamed some of the slide.
Its a decent ball for a moderate price.Heck!I have enough b-balls already,I just like having fun.I know more will follow, testing is COOL!!
Be cool everyone at B-Ball review!

Lane Conditions: Medium-Light Oil
Typical Conditions: Tournament Shot
Type of Lane: Combination
What part of the lane did you play? Second Arrow
Did the ball track out? Normal
Weight of bowling ball: 15
Surface of bowling ball: Factory/Box
Likes: Less Backend then the Blade Pearl, More length too.
Dislikes: Didn't have this ball sooner.

I got this ball about 2 weeks ago. I drilled up all four balls for a weekend tournament.

The Sling Blade is laid out with the Pin 4 3/4" and the CG 4 1/2" from my Positive Axis Point (PAP).

The weekend tournament had a light oil shot. 10 to the gutter was dry and 10 to 10 was had some light oil. I was able to swing the ball from 15 to 5 into the dry and the ball made a controlled arcing move to the pocket. On the same type of shot, my Blade Pearl would make a more snappy backend move. I used this in another tournament the next weekend where the heads were hooking and there was some carrydown. The Sling Blade got through clean and I was able to play a more direct line than most other people.

With the flip block off of the Sling Blade, all the bowlers that wanted more length than the Blade Pearl will find it in this ball.

This ball does EXACTLY what it was designed to do in the makeup of the Hammer line.  Specifically, to go longer than the solid and recoil on the backend when it hits the dry!!!  Without a doubt this ball does that and more....

The Sling Blade is great for those medium to dry conditions.  It goes a little longer that the Blade Pearl but has more movement in the backend.  Don't try to force this ball on a condition where you have to adjust with speed because this ball is more difficult to control than others when you go "outside" of your normal game.  Stick with your "A" game plan always, by changing to another Hammer ball that matches the condition.  The Sling Blade adds another dimension to your arsenal so you can count on it when the time comes.  Plus, the women have told me that this one was the "PRETTIEST" ball in the Hammer line.

NOTHING HITS LIKE A HAMMER!!!

Just recently got this ball and love it.They are right when they say nothing hits like a hammer cause its true. I like this ball cause it allows m to play a little more straight up then usual. It goes long then all of a sudden it shoots back scross the lane like a rocket.I usually hook the ball a ton but with the Sling Blade i can crank it up and it just gradually moves down the lane and saves its energy for the backend. My first night with this ball i shot a 642 wich i was glad cause i dont usually start out the first night of league that well so that was good. I cant wait to use the ball tomorrow night in league when we start again. First hammer ball i owned and it will not be the last.

Specs: 15lb. 2 oz. 2.5 oz. top, pin 2-3.
Drilled pin under ring(righty) with CG kicked into what is a 4.5x4 layout for me, no weight hole required, left at box finish.

Wanted this ball for the end of late shift in one house (synthetic, wet/dry tophat) and the start of late shift in another house (wood, lots of hook). For once a ball does precisely what the company says it will. Even with the semi-aggressive layout the Sling Blade scoots down the lane easily and make a nice smooth arc with outstanding carry. Used this one tonight for the second time and shot 300 the first game in the wood house(this actually means something there, usually only 2 or 3 shot in the house for a season). Had some trouble with it late in the 2nd and 3rd game as the lanes got really dusty, not enough angle from deep inside to carry and too much ball to stay outside with. Chalk it up to a learning experience with a new nugget, but it still kinda sucks when you start with 300 and only finish with 694 (300,227,167). Overall I am loving the new look from Hammer, I think they have some of the best stuff on the market right now. Keep it up guys.

Just got this ball and had it drilled with a weak mass bias drilling to go long and make a strong move on the backend.  I am left-handed with medium speed and revs.  I am planning to use this for a second shift league where the heads are dry and I did not have anything that retained enough energy at the pins.  I used it for the first time last night and shot consistent scores (199, 201, 206).  While I am not overly excited about my scores, I am impressed with this ball.  It does what I intended - it goes down 3/4 of the lane before making a very strong move (not quite skid/flip, but close) toward the pocket.  I did not miss the pocket much and when I did not strike I left corner pins (7 or 10).  I was able to play from 10-12 out to the gutter and bring this one back with some punch!  This is a great ball by Hammer!

Box surface, 3" pin 3.25 TW.  Pin at 4", CG in Palm.  15#   Any axis rotation makes this ball a skid flip.   A lot of ringing leaves.   If I drill another will drill 5 x 5 at least.   Ball is stronger than advertised.

The Sling Blade is a ball with wonderful hitting power, can you say BOOM BABY!?

This pearlized Power Track coverstock with a lower RG core than the Blade Solid gives you the length you need and the backend reaction you want.

As a cranker, I used a label leverage 3 3/8" x 4" drilling layout, with a balance hole 4 1/2" out from the center of grip. The ball goes long, and takes a dive into the pocket.  Not so much a skid/snap reaction, but also not so much a smooth arc either.  I've found I have enough control of the ball to stay consistent in playing the same line over and over again.

The Sling Blade is not a medium to dry lane ball, as advertised.  I found it to be more a light medium to light oil ball, as the ball would 'burn up' before reaching its break-point if the lanes are too broken down/dry.

Overall this is a very good ball for crankers, and might be found more successful in the hands of a tweener.

Hammer: Sling Blade
Pin: 2-3"
Topweight: 2.34 oz
Weight: 15.45 lb(before drilling)
Surface: Went from 600 and took it done to 2000 grit and hit it with Ebonite factory polish
Drill: 12:00, pin above the bridge cg under the bridge

-----o----Pin
---O-O---
---------
-----*----Cg
---------
----O----

Overall

I bought this ball needing a reactive ball that would go farther down the lane before it grabs the dry boards. This ball is one of the most verstial balls I have ever owned (with the exception of my Vortex 2's). I can stay behind the ball and get it down the lane with a smooth backend. I also can get around it and get pretty good length out it however I get a very jerky backend, that I find is hard to control with out some oil.

Sport Shot (Youth Nationals shot at Lakeside)

I started by playing up the boards like I did at nationals the first two games. I was fairly successful but not much room for error and I only shoot in the 180's (my sportshot league) the third game I moved to the third arrow taking some hand out of it, having my break point at 40ft at the 09 board playing the edge of the oil. The next week I played the same line and avg 190's with opens in the tenth.

Pro's
The ball loats down the lane and has good recovery.

Con's
The ball tends to float a little long sometimes with a little difference in speed.

what a nice little piece of equipment. its not a ball for a lot of oil but its what they said it would be. with some backend and a 9 board swing this ball played a 42 foot buffed house shoot just fine. when the carry down came i was able to play straight down ten with a tight line. ball hits hard. left a few 10s but slight adjustments will talke care of that. i cant waite to get it on a 2nd shift to see what it can do on burnt heads. great ball so far . it was drilled full roller pin down on the left side of thumb. 3-4 pin top weight 3  oz . thanks to P J  massey hammer staff member for turning me into a hammer head.

Some of you may have read this before.  I was just rereading a response I made to a bullred post in the Hammer forum, and it read so much like a review I decided to copy it and post it here as a review.

I've got a specific niche for my Sling Blade and it works great in
it. I use it on a house shot that is too burned up for just about
any reactives, but still has a trace of oil in the heads. My Sling
Blade is drilled 1 x 4...pin an inch toward the fingers from my
PAP and CG just right of grip center--just under 1 oz. of side, so
no extra hole. The ball is not a high flaring ball anyway, and my
pin position kills the flare pretty effectively, but contributes
toward early revs and a predictable move in the back. I have a
mirror finish on it with Storm Xtra Shine topped off with Black
Magic. When other equipment has forced me in further than my
comfort zone, I can move back out with the Sling Blade and ride
what's left of the oil line down to the breakpoint and get a
strong, but not jumpy arc into the pocket with excellent hit. It
                                         even handles light carrydown.

This layout and surface prep makes the ball work like plastic if
there's any significant oil, and it will go coast to coast if the
lane is toast, but when there's still a whiff of oil, it's great. This
is exactly what I bought and set it up for, so I'm very happy
                                         with the results.

I now have 2 Sling Blades and I love both of them.

1 is a 5" pin to PAP with a 90 degree drilling, pin below ring finger.   This ball starts a little sooner than I actually expected, but this ball works very good on House conditions.

The 2nd one I have drilled with a 2X2 layout.  I have one house that I bowl in that has burnt guardian, and the heads just FRY.  I use this ball to scoot the fronts and let the dry backs return it to the pocket.

The new Hammer products are incredible.   I am definitely a HammerHead for life.

Before I get started, I have to say one thing....this is one pretty ball.  It's hard to get green balls right, but Hammer pulled it off here.

Specs:
15 lb
2" pin
2 oz. TW

Drill specs:
5 1/2 X 4 (pin over bridge)
Box finish

Other than my X Factor, I really don't have any pearls.  So when the opportunity came to pick this up in a trade, I went for it.  My thinking was I wanted something that would go longer than my Bruiser, but be smoother off the breakpoint than my X Factor.

I've gotten to try this on a couple of different conditions:  fresh THS and broken down THS.  On the fresh, the Sling Blade really had too much length to be effective.  However, I was able to square up and still get a pretty good reaction.  The high RG drill really got down the lane and made a hard move on the fresh backends.

Where the SB really stood out was on a broken down shot.  Was playing 15 to 7 with my Deuce, then the Bruiser.  Toward the end of the 2nd game, both my Deuce and Bruiser were too much up front.  Pulled out the Sling Blade and didn't move an inch, it cleared the heads fine and gave me a pretty stout reaction down the lane.

One thing I really like about the SB is the tight flare pattern.  The lower differential is the reason behind the tight rings, but it gives a real smooth move out of the dry.

Great medium/dry condition ball
