I laid out two of these balls for myself. The first ball I laid out with the Pin 3 1/2"  and the Mass Bias 4 3/4" from my PAP (positive axis point).  The second ball I laid out with the pin 5" and the Mass Bias 5 1/4" from my PAP (positive axis point).  The first ball is laid out exactly like the Real Deal that I shot 845 with and the 2nd ball is laid out exactly like my Big Blue Pearl.  I wanted to see what the balls were like in relation to those balls.

The 1st Big Deal with the 3 1/2" pin from the pap, was a little smoother at the breakpoint and would start a couple of feet earlier on the lane, then the Big Deal with the 5" pin.  Making a harder move to the pocket then my Real Deal.  I was able to play a variety of shots on the lane and still have good entry angle to the pocket.

The 2nd Big Deal with the pin 5 " from my PAP, would go longer down the lane and then make a sideways move to the pocket.  This ball looks like someone kicks it at the breakpoint.  I was able to play different parts of the lane with this ball, it was just harder at the breakpoint than the 3 1/2" Big Deal ball.

The first Big Deal drilled exactly like my Real Deal give me more angle at the break point than the Real Deal, with a couple more boards overall hook.

The second Big Deal drilled exactly like my Big Blue Pearl has similiar ball motion as the Big Blue Pearl, with more entry angle and can handle more overall oil.

Both balls flared about 6+ inches.

Have been throwing the Real Deal and the ball is awesome. Drilled the Big Deal exactly the same. Pin 4" from axis and MB 75 degrees. Placed axis hole over 5 3/4 and down 1" to bring to 1/2 positive side weight. To me the balls react almost identicle. This could be do to the fact that the Big Deal is approximately 1/4 lighter and I tend to have a little more speed with it. If the Big Deal is as good as the Real Deal, anyone that purchase is will not be dissappointed.

Drilled this ball 5" pin 75 degree mass bias.   When I drilled the ball about 1/2 the pin was inside the ring finger hole.   The Mass Bias is just below the thumb slight ly to the right.  I didn't get to bowl very much with the ball as we got busy in the shop right after I finished. drilling the ball so I am going to reserve judgement  until after I get a couple of games on the ball.  Iof the few shots I did throw with it,  the ball hits very hard.   It seems to read the mid lane very well and makes a crisp move to the pocket.

THIS REVIEW IS SHORT. I DRILLED MY BIG DEAL WITH A 5IN PIN WITH THE MB @ 45DGS. BALL HAS A LITE POLISH. THIS BALL IS A GREAT ADDITION TO THE HAMMER/EBONITE LINE UP. I COMPARED THIS BALL TO MY V2 STRONG/R WHICH HAS THE SAME LAYOUT AND I FOUND THAT THE BIG DEAL READS THE MIDLANE EARILER AND RECOVERS HARDER THAN THE V2. BOTH BALLS FLARE ALOT FOR ME. SO WITH THAT I CAN USED THE BIG DEAL ON THOSE HEAVIER PATTERNS AND THE V2 FOR LIGHTER ONES. GREAT BALLS.  GRAB YOURSELF A BIG DEAL...YOU'LL LOVE IT.

ball 3"pin out w/2 3/4 oz.

Drilling Pin @ 25 Degrees just above and outside of ringfinger
CG out 2 inches
Mass Bias at 62 Degrees

Side Weight Drilled back to 7/8 pos. w 21/32 diam and 1" Deep w/ 1 1/4 Right pitch and 9/16 Forward Pitch

Handels the USBC Tournament Shot with ease and can play 15 to 1 and have no worries on coming back to the pocket. It hits very hard but the best thing is it keeps pins very low.

Will have a few more of these drilled but with weaker drillings to handel more house shots.

Its the best ball I think of that hammer has made in years nice job hammer.

BOUGHT THE BIG DEAL A FEW MONTHS AGO WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT. DRILL PIN ABOVE AND
BETWEEN FINGERS AND CG KICKED OUT WITH NO BALANCE HOLE DUE TO LOW TOP WEIGHT.
BALL GETS THRU HEADS CLEANLY FOR DULL BALL AND MAKES A GREAT MOVE ON BACKEND.
HITS AS HARD AS ANY BALL I HAVE THROWN. DRILLED A FEW FOR SOME FOLKS WITH NOT A LOT OF HAND AND SEEMS TO HAVE A GOOD TURN ON THE BACKEND AS WELL. EVERYONE I HAVE DRILLED ONE FOR SEEMS VERY IMPRESSED. GREAT JOB HAMMER! I THROW THE DEAL AS WELL AND HAVE THROWN 2 300S WITH IT AND IS A GREAT BALL AS WELL. BOTH SEEM
TO GET THRU THE HEADS AS CLEAN AS ANY I HAVE THROWN. LOOKING FORWARD TO TRYING
OUT THE NEXT NEW HAMMER. THANKS FOR THE GREAT SCORES HAMMER.

Lane condition:  38' oil 10-10 THS

Layout:  5.5" PIN to PAP  75*   Pin is above the bridge with the LMB located just below the thumb hole.
Surface:  hit this one with 2000 Abralon pad, as it was dull out of box.

This ball may be one of the best that Hammer has made recently.  I always liked the gas mask core, but with the added flip block this ball just doesn't stop.  This ball pushes through the fronts well, revs in the mid without losing energy, and then JUMPS off the dry at the backend of the lane.   This will be a staple in my arsenal for some time to come.

NOTE:  1 suggestion concerning drilling on this and all of the DEAL series balls.  If these balls are layed out too strongly for the individual player, it will cause the ball to read the mids too hard and not recover in the dry.  The cores of these balls are strong and if the LMB is too strong the ball will not store energy for the backend of the lane, and not hook.   Keep this in mind when laying out these balls.

Personal recommended layout-  Pin distance to PAP minimum of 4.5" and no stronger than 75*

40' of Prodigy using a nice blend with a Sanction SE on wood lanes, stacked the pin & c.g. under my ring finger and just could not believe how strong this ball is. I have seen a lot of balls roll up in the mid lane but never seen one that had this much hook on the backend, I will have to put some polish on this after I try it on the sport condition because it is way strong on a house shot. If your looking for something a tweener or stroker can cover boards and look like a cranker this is for you, the ball gets through the heads real clean but once it picks up the roll you better hang on. I think there could be another 12 feet of lane and this one would just keep going. I am not impressed very often but the combination of earlier roll and strong backend is not seen very often. A special thanks to Jason and Dave on this one but I am not sure I can put enough oil out to keep this one right. I will get with one of you two about what polish works best on this one, this should be a hot seller for anyone that needs more hook.

The Big Deal was great for me. It does have a tendency too ping dimes now. Before it carried everything. Im going to try too cross hatch it starting from the pin, then polish it. I'm going to sand it with green scrotch brite. What do you think Ball Death?

Lane Condition: short oil(35ft)
Drill Pattern: 3in pin between fingers and cg 1/2in off val and 1/2in off mid line Mass Bias right of thumb
I was getting ready for a tourney this weekend and decided to get some ball work done saturday. I went up to Brunswick(G.A.) changed a few grips and resurfaced a ball. While talking to Wesley I told him I couldn't decide what I wanted to buy next. I wanted something that I could use during leage that would help my pin count. (too many 8's and 9's) After talking about it for a few hrs. he recommended the V2 Power or The Big Deal. I just recently pick up a Big Block Diesel but, I has been nothing close to what I expected. I figured lets try hammer again and lets see what happens. We drilled it up and threw a few balls. It moved pretty good so Wesley said keep it dull. Good thing I listen well. Needless to say, in the tourney I placed 3rd bowling 212, 179, 229 and 204 the last for games of the sweeper ending up w/ 1102. (138 & 140 w/ black ice) The Big Deal came thur like a champ!!! I should have thrown it all six games but, that's life. I'm going to leave it dull and I might even buy a second one down the road.

Specs:
15.20lbs
3 inch pin
3oz top

Layout:
Pin under the bridge
MB in the strong position

Report:
I threw this ball on everything and i can never find a place that i could play it down and in. Usually the lanes hook a good amount so i am not able to use this ball. I was debating if i should keep it or not. This all changed when i went to bowl a 6 gamer this past weekend.

I went to his place called Paddock Bowl in Pacheo, CA. It has 20 lanes with Brunswick Synthetics. From what i heard, the house is walled up usually. Close your eyes and let it go. But that wasn't the case today. When we got on the lanes, the first ball dictated how the day was going to go. I threw my first ball down the track and my ball actually backed up and hit the 3-6-10. The center was totally juiced. I said to myself, ok, it must be a heavy THS. I threw the next shot down the out side gutter and my ball didn't even wiggle. Sounds great so far huh. I switched to my "B" Game where i hold the ball really low. I decided to go up the outside using forward roll with somme hand but laying it right at the foul line. I got a great reaction and the ball arc up to the pocket. I was throwing the ball up 5 or 6 at about 13 to 14 mph. This is the total opposite from what i am use to throwing. I was able to play this line the whole time and was fortunately to cash which made me happy. The ball rolled good and hit like a truck still. I was very impress. This made me deicde to keep this ball since i now know what it can roll on.

In comparing the Hawg to the Big Deal i got to say the Big Deal is way better. I threw my Hawg which i have about the same layout and it didn't even move at all playing the same line. I was very disappointed at it.

So Hammer Fans this is another great ball.

pap 5 1/8 r 1/2 up. drilled this ball 4 from my pap. i drilled this ball "crater weight" this layout was told to me by one of my friends. i layed it out pin under my bridge with the cg out about 1 1/2 next to my thumb with a huge weight hole through my mass bias. this ball is EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE. i need a ton of oil for this ball. it likes long patters with a lot of body oil. when this ball hits its not going to leave anything. great ball

Drilled: pin over ring finger, 4 1/2 inches from PAP, 2 inches positive shift off CG and balance hole above midline; mass bias at 45 degrees and about 3 inches from PAP; other specs in profile.

The Big Deal was impressive from the first release off my hand. I saw exceptional pin carry, a smooth roll and a predictable and strong move at the break point.

With the exception of the balance hole hitting my back flares, which didn't affect the roll,  this ball was amazing. I bought it used from RWOOD300 and it was originally Brian Green's. I didn't have to change anything except the span, thumb pitch and drill the fingers out for inserts.  I am going to move the balance hole off my track, but other wise there are no complaints. The real test will come with heavier and flat patterns. However, my house shot looked easier than I ever imagined. You can really open up the lane and the ball did not burn up.

The ball: 15 pounds, 2.5-inch pin
The drill: Pin under and slightly right of ring, CG stacked underneath, MB at 4:30 to the thumb about 2 inches out, works out to a 3.5 x 3.5 x 4.5 drill for me. Weight hole on the VAL down from and outside of PAP. Finish is 2000 Abralon plus polish.
Me: PAP 4 over 3/8 up, tweener revs, good speed, good circumference coverage

---

Got this ball from a member here. The ball had low game traffic when I got it, and very little was needed to make it suitable to fit me.

The first order of business, since I knew I would never find enough oil to throw it on in box finish, was to give it a 2000 Abralon freshening and then apply Storm Moon Shine polish to take the surface up a little.

Even in this condition, this ball is much more than I need at my local house. It's so far outside the boundaries of what I can use, for that matter, that it's now a tournament ball.

The ball just digs and digs. The only way to play it at my home house is to play in the oil itself...otherwise, Brooklyn strikes are what I must hope for. The move is strong and continuous. It is not snappy.

When conditions are right, carry is fine. Try to use this ball on less oil than it was intended for, and carry goes out the window. Lots of corners.

Positives: Can handle a ton of oil, predictable movement, no surprises.

Negatives: Can't handle dry or dry-mediums, even with polish on it.

Overall: Great ball for medium-heavy if you can still find one.
