COMMENTS

 


The new Rhythm is the latest ball designed to continue raising awareness of one of the most historic bowling organizations in America, the TNBA!


 


The Rhythm has the same coverstock as the original Taboo which is my favorite (easily tune-able) coverstock from Hammer. With one of my favorite cores in this ball (Arson), this ball is about 3-5 boards stronger overall than the Arson, but less overall than the Hammer Brick.


 


With the box surface (2000 Abralon), the Rhythm actually handles the heavier mediums patterns very well. I bowled at one of the Vegas centers that are a little tighter in the backends with a heavier fresh oil pattern, and my original Arson @ 2000 Abralon did not want to turn the corner when moved into the oil line. But, when I brought out the Rhythm, this ball definitely had no problems cutting through the tighter backends and was stronger overall.


 


I also played with the surface on the Rhythm by adjusting the surface to 4000 Abralon, and this gives me a little more push through the fronts with a very strong backend motion that I am looking for in this ball. I have this same layout on my Arson, and this was easily 4-5 boards stronger overall than my Arson with a stronger motion in the backends too. This ball is VERY strong ball that picks up in the mids with a strong continuation in the backends than the Arson and is a step below the new Hammer Brick (2-4 boards weaker). This ball handles the medium / medium heavy patterns much better than my Arson.


 


The Rhythm is a perfect compliment for those needing a stronger ball than the Arson and fits underneath the Brick when it might be too strong/early.

Hammer Rhythm

Weight: 15#
Top Weight: 3.25 oz
Pin: 3-4"

Layout: 5" Pin above the fingers. No Weight Hole.

First Impression:

Good read through the midlane with still enough motion downlane to make a move to the pocket without burning up in the heads.

General Observations:

Have not tried it with any other surface except OOB and when I like a ball reaction I tend not to mess with the surface. The first impression pretty much sums up how it works for me.

I have always had success with the Taboo's coverstock. The Arson core inside makes drilling this ball very simple.

Versus other balls in the Hammer line:

Not as strong as the original Taboo
More aggressive than the Arson
Not as angular as the Taboo Jet Black
More snappier on the backend whereas the Brick is much smoother and controllable downlane

Conclusion:

I am extremely pleased with the ball reaction and the cover/core combo put into the Rhythm. This ball will work great for those with low revs who are looking for that one aggressive ball in the bag without breaking the bank. The Brick will work better on heavier oil but do not count out the Rhythm as ball of choice if they are still souped up more than usual!
