Likes: Smooth easy and controllable and hits real hard!
Dislikes: Sadly won't track on any normal amount of oil.
I am a Full Roller so I bought a True Blood with a 2 inch pin so I could get the max thumb weight and the least top weight so I could maximize flare on this ball.
On league night I was using my reactive and urethane stuff. The oil was light and evaporated quickly so by the end of the match as a team we had bowled under average and lost. It was so frustrating as I could barely get a game in the 150's and when my ball would hit the pocket the pins were not jumping. On two slightly high hits that should have left a 4 pin I got Big Four splits.
After everyone left and I was sitting there alone, depressed and confused I decided to bowl one game with my brand new True Blood at out of box finish. I figured I would just work on form and timing as I did not expect a Polyester ball to track on the lane.
Well right off the bat I noticed that this ball really twirled down the lane maintaining a strong axis rotation the whole way to the back end.
As a Full Roller I have a 90 degree axis rotation with zero tilt and this ball looked beautiful as it spiraled down the lane like a bullet.
But once this ball hit the back end, it turned over in a hurry and hit the pins with amazing force! Where before in league I was getting no pop on the pins, now the pins were exploding.
By the time the game was done I had bowled a 200 clean game.
I realized this must have been a case of a really dry lane with over/under killing me when using stronger gear and my balls being dead on arrival, but switching to the True Blood gave a reaction of amazing power. Pins just flew. I wish I could bowl with this ball for everything but obviously on a slightly heavier oil condition it would never read.
I give this ball maximum stars on a dry condition, nothing will be as accurate and as powerful through the deck. The First Blood Core on this ball really makes it hold its rotational spin storing tons of energy for the back end. On the dry the Polyester allows that rotational spin to not slow down until the last moment.
The True Blood is a very attractive ball with a lot of power on the right condition. I highly recommend it.
