I drilled mine with a 5" pin to PAP , CG @ 45. Pin is under ring finger. This ball is great get it in the dry and it is pretty strong , but not to jumpy very controlable. Get it in the oil and saves energy great down lane.
It isin't as strong as the blue vibe but it dosen't go as far down the lane as the cherry vibe. Overall another great ball from hammer.

51 years in bowling, scratch since 1965. Mike Jenkins, Jenxx Pro Shop, Nashville, Tn suggested this ball. Norm Titus Columbia Tn, PBA Staff suggested 2x5 drilling. Drilled up last night and Mike said no way this ball should hook. I'm a tweener with inverted track, 16 mph, with med revs. This ball rolls from the get go and never stops on a house condition. You can play where ever you want and it finishes through the pocket. My ball weight 15lb, 2 oz., 3 1/4" pin with about 3 oz top. PAP is 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 down.

I got this ball because when the lanes dried up and I got tired on long sets, I couldn't get any of my other equipment through the heads well.

This is a solid ball for the price.  I have not used the Blue or Cherry but feel like this ball is doing exactly what I wanted it for.  It is reading just a tad earlier than I would like but taking the surface down and back up should fix that "new ball" quirkiness.  I have a lot of Hammer products and this one is going to be used often on a second shift league I bowl in the fall.

way better than the cherry vibe and probably the last vibe to be made. This ball has beautiful color and it hits like a freight train. Totally awesome ball you will increase your average with this one without damaging your bank account Thanks Hammer!!!!

I drilled this piece two weeks ago as a compliment to my original purple Vibe. They both have the same layout, but I took the Emerald down to 2000 Abralon, then used Track's Delayed reaction polish. My purple Vibe is 4000 Abralon with Power House Extender and Factory Finish polishes.
The layout is: Pin 4 1/2" up over fingers from my axis (4 1/2 rt, 1 1/8 up) at 30 degrees. For my game this produces a moderately lengthy and strong almost continuous flip that isn't so sideways it's impossible to read. I have yet to play further right with this than my Widow pearl, or never been right of 25. This ball is straight for 36 feet, than looks like a fish hook.
Keep in mind that I do have a med-high rev rate, and I bowl a scratch league on second shift, so there are 4 games by the time we get to practice.
There is nothing about this ball I do not like, it is amazing that this ball reacts and hits the way it does. If you want skid/flip, in my opinion there is no other ball on the market that can hold its own with this. All of the Vibe's have been good pieces, but the Emerald takes it to a new level.

My PAP: 5 1/4" over by 3/4" up. 15-15.5 mph. Above average revs. I'd say I'm somewhere in between tweener and cranker.

Drilling: 5" pin to PAP, above my bridge.

OOB: 4000 + Polish: At first I was unsure about this ball. I expected something more like my Blue and Cherry Vibes. What I got was something totally different. Even with my Emerald drilled pin under my fingers, it really stores a lot of energy for the back part of the lane. Glides through the heads with total ease, very little midlane reaction, and has a pretty sharp move on the back. Overall hook potential is higher than both the Blue and Cherry as well. I'm able to comfortably throw this thing on THS, and it's probably 5 boards or so weaker than my Psycho. The hit and carry will impress you, especially for such an inexpensive ball. I've been a big fan of all the Vibes, and this is quickly becoming my favorite one. Looks really good going down the lane as well.

Great bang for your buck. The only shot I can't really see using this thing on is long and/or heavy oil. I think there are better choices for those types of conditions, but if you're really determined to play it I'm sure you could move far enough right.

Power Stroker
PAP: 4 3/4 over
Ball Speed: 17-19 MPH
Rev Rate: 300
Axis Rotation: 30-75

Hand: Left
Line: 15------1/3 at the breakpoint
20-----5 at the breakpoint

Layout: Pin below the ring finger appox. 4 inches from PAP. Layout is 4x4. Pin was a little long so I ended up with a touch of extra thumb weight, but no big deal.

This ball is the definition of smooth. With this layout I get a nice smooth big backend and the ball is just so predictable its crazy. The first shot I bowled on is pretty new AMF synthetics and has a pretty flat pattern for a house shot. This ball owned the pattern like it was nothing and it was on a fresh pair for league no less. Shot 296, 268, 265 for an 829. Carried every pocket hit except 2 I believe. This ball carried light hits great and pocket hits even better. I liked the pin down drilling on this ball because it really smoothed out the snappy backend and gave me more of a rico type look.

The second house is brand new AMF synthetics with a standard THS and a heavy concentration in the middle of the lane. This ball owns the dry on these types of patterns but tends to skate a little and leave corners in the oil. I found more success on a flatter more blended pattern. Don’t worry though, you will still throw plenty of x’s. I had the front 8 at this house until I pulled one into the oil and left a ringing 10. When there is an abundant amount of dry, this ball can also be swung to great extents depending on your rev rate.

I think people could find alot of success with this ball on a variety of conditions. I think taking this ball down to 4000 abralon may be a good move, but will be less usable on light - dry lane conditions.

All in all, a great ball so far. I really would like to try the Blue one now!

Style: RH Power Stroker
Rev Rate 275-325
Speed: 14-16
Drill: Pin Under/CG Kicked out w/Balance Hole

The Vibe Experience:

First off, WOW!!! I got my drilled yesterday and in the first ball I threw I saw the best ball movement I've ever seen. Smooth through the front and comes back sreaming to the pocket. With all that energy stored it's going to hit the pocket VERY hard. I was swinging the ball out to the gutter and had NO problem coming back to the pocket and hitting hard. So far, this is the smoothest hardest hitting ball I have in my arsenal.

I'm probably going to get another one or the Cherry Vibe and get it drilled for more length and even more back end. The Emerald I have is drilled to react a earlier. So the next Vibe would be drilled to react later. This ball is amazing. I can swing this out on medium to drier lanes or play straight up on heavier volumes.

Hammer...GREAT BALL. The thing that I really love is that it cost less then my other equipment but yet is climbing the favorite ball ladder pretty fast. Good job hammer.

Same guy that posted the review below.

I had to write a second review on this ball.  Haven't been able to use it much since I just added about 3 more balls to my arsenal and have been trying to get comfortable with the reactions.  Anyways, moving forward...I was able to play this ball on fresh THS and I pretty much have the same thing to say WOW!  Standing on 20, throwing on 10 and breakpoint around 7.  When this ball hit the BP, it turns and just gets pulled towards the pocket and hits it  hard.  I just wrote a review on my fury pearl and said that hit the pocket hard.  I might have to take it off.  THIS is the hardest hitting ball I have in my arsenal...hands down.  The vibe hits harder then my VG.  The pin action and breaks I get with this ball is amazing.  I'm telling you, when it hits the pocket, it's over.  I probably had 1 flat 10...no BS.  It's drilled to react earlier and is now a beast on fresh oil.  This is supposed to be Hammer's answer for No Oil.  It's my answer for Fresh Oil!

Hammer Emerald Vibe
15#
3-4 pin
Starting top 2 3/4
Layout - 5 1/4 X 5 3/8 Pin high above ring, CG on grip line.
Box finish
Lane conditions - Med light to light on normal league night...
17.8 - 18 mph at the deck
425-450 rev.

I haven't used any of the Vibes since the purple vibe and regret that now. I punched up the Emerald Vibe and also a Magic for my upcoming summer league. The magic was just to much even polished over box for the shot. The EV stepped in and was fantastic!!! I know everyone always clams to shoot 300 after drilling a new ball. Well, I didn't but did shoot 268, 240 right off the press. The ball matches up for me VERY well. Standing on 30 rolling the ball over 12 at the arrows out to about 7-8 at the break point. The EV roll up very smooth, kinda surprised me at first as I was expecting more of a snap. The reaction was very impressive, very controllable. The ball is also a beautiful green, had several people asking what I was rolling! Always a good feeling to catch peoples eyes. Overall, I'm excited to have the EV in the bag for summer. Also, hope the rummers are true about the onyx vibe as I will def have that as well...

Layout - 5 x 3 pin down with a low hole
Surfaces used - box, 1000, 1000 polish, 2000, 2000 polish

In box finish the Emerald Vibe gets down the lane with no fuss, and makes a sharp and very defined move when it hits the dry. You would think that a ball at this price point would only hook a small amount... but then youd be wrong. "wow!" is what most people say when they see the amount of area this ball covers when it finally decides to move. I say finally because on a medium pattern or THS "greeny" goes WAY the bleep down the lane before it moves. The recovery downlane is such though that it makes its way back to the pocket every time. This IS a ball to use when the heads are hooking and you need to swing it.. or when you want to dazzle your friends by throwing it dead up the 3 board and watch it dive into the pocket like a heat seaking missle.

This is, however, NOT a dry lane ball.

On drier patterns the ball is very usable, but the cover is a bit strong even in box finish to get a ton of angle. on these drier conditions the backend is tamed down considerably in favor of a more arcy reaction shape. for the driest conditions though, take out the Razyr.

As far as other finishes go, this ball takes to surface changes well. Duller surfaces smooth out the ball as you would expect. when those heavier grits are polished the length comes back but with the earlier move you would expect with a heavier under grit. Surface durability is VERY good. The ball does not track up easily, and almost always looks clean. It does soak up a surprising amount of oil. more than you would expect for its "mid-entry" level price point.

Hammer Emerald Vibe
Weight: 15#
Pin: 3-4"
Top Weight: 3 oz.

Layout: 5" Pin above the fingers. Pin @ 12 o'clock. CG stable in the mid-grip, no weight hole needed. Ball is OOB surface.

First Impressions: The Emerald Vibe does have some flip and pop on the backend and is great to use playing straight up the boards.

Overall Thoughts: The Vibe series has been one of the best low end performance series in quite some time and it continues with the Emerald Vibe. With the MAX FLIP coverstock, the ball does exactly that, FLIPS! What makes it unique is how versatile I can play the lanes with this ball and have the confidence in knowing it will still make the turn on the backend without losing hitting power.

Comparision/Contrast: Emerald Vibe vs. ACID - I cannot compare it to a Cherry Vibe because I never got to drill one of those for myself. So I will compare and contrast to the one ball being the next step up, the ACID. ACID has more hook potential and can be used when the lanes are souped up, even being polished. The Emerald Vibe is longer with a more profound and noticeable backend reaction than the ACID though. When the ACID is burning up through the heads and hitting the pocket weak, I go to the Emerald Vibe for more flip on the backend and better entry angle into the pocket.

Conclusion: Hammer continues to show top dollar performance with an even smaller low end price tag. The Emerald Vibe is a flippier version than its counterparts based on what I have read and saw on the lanes. The Emerald Vibe is a great piece to have when all of the other bowling balls in the bag are too much on the lanes. Good length and clean reaction on the backend.

This was the 1st ball I ever purchased, so I knew nothing about bowling equipment. I bought it from our local pro shop with a basic "stacked" beginners layout. I've had people tell me that I took to the game a lot faster than most, but to me I'm gonna give a good bit of the credit to this ball. Fantastic "learning" ball. What I mean is, if you're wanting to start throwing a hook, this is a great ball to learn with. Not super aggressive, which makes it easy to control. Also very forgiving if you miss your mark. Which of course I did quite a bit when learning. My 3rd week ever in league, I broke 200 with a 205. Even now that I'm on to more aggressive equipment, I still keep this ball in my bag with a good polish on it, for use on drier lanes. Perfect lighter oil ball! Picked up the Cherry Vibe for my fiance. It's great as well. I've never thrown any of Hammer's higher end balls, as I have heard and read mixed reviews on them. But I know a bunch of others that also have Vibes and I can say that in my opinion this Vibe line is fantastic at it's price point.

OH MY WORD!!! Pin straight above the fingers, CG middle of span.  Long, Hard, and OH MY GOD when it hits the pins.  Nothing stands in the way of this ball.  With out doubt the best ball I have ever thrown.  Anything you want to do with this ball it will respond and do more.  Slow it down and hook the lane, straight up 2nd arrow with little hand, or a typical house shot.  This ball will do ANYTHING!!!  Great spare ball too.  Very dependable, predictable, and controlable on ANY pattern.  Including the US Open Pattern.  When times are tough, this is the ball I go too.  I go to this ball before THE ONE PEARL.
