Well, I guess I've had this ball long enuff to post a review. A very interesting ball. The jury is defintely still out on this ball. It's always feast or famine. I either bowl great with it or absolutely terrrible!
Anyways, the ball is:
15#er- no weight hole
Ball has a 3.5" pin
Surface:OOB, except I hit it with a grey pad to take some of the shine off it and give me a little more control.
drilled: pin over the ring with the cg in the palm (see my profile)Kind of a
4-7/8 x 5 drilling--in between a regular leverage drill and a stacked flip drilling
Lanes: synthetic, with a very lite oil condition, which tracks up extremely fast, but a slightly higher concentration in the middle.
I tended to play, 13 at the arrows, to about 10 at the breakpoint. A slurve. If I make it thru the second game, I'm 18 at the arrows, 10 at the breakpoint with an increase in speed.
So far, I have never shot down and in with this ball. It is, much like the Doom, skid-snappish. Since I have a weak, backendy drill on this ball, it tends to be rather condition specific. The bad part about this ball is I can always use it on the fresh shot. It really shines on the fresh, but there is a severe dropoff after that. I usually have to put it away after the second game, if I make it thru the second game. The ball has really paid for itself on fresh shots! After that, I lose a lot of confidence in it, in consistency and in being able to just pick up spares routinely.
The Doom on the other hand was strong if you drilled it strong, and weak but playable, if you drilled it weak. The Doom was much more versatile, and consistent, and I could play all over the lanes with it. Down and in, up the boards, inside, or even down the middle.
I love the bright green color of this ball, but honestly, not everybody can use this ball. I know this may sound crazy, but what I see on the backend when I throw this......is a ball, with the initial skid-snap move of the Doom, but the final movement like a Black Widow. Now if this were a solid, or a particle pearl, that would be a great combination. But because this is a pearl, it makes the ball very over/under and "iffy" at times. Just my take.
Oh, and I have posted some extremely high scores with this ball, and won a few pots as well. However...
The jury is still out....
