Switching to hammer
« on: March 28, 2007, 01:27:54 AM »
I usually throw Columbia300 equip. Mainly cause the guy I was working for ownes a shop sponsored by Col. I used almost everyball they've released and only a couple rolled like I was told they would. I had been considering trying other equip. for a while now, the buy out just gave me an excuse!! We had a tourn. here in Wichita recently and the shop got a pretty good deal on Widows for it. I decided to try one out. Let me tell you I was completely impressed. I coulde actually see the ball read the lane, unlike a lot of Col. stuff. So I decided to order a No Mercy. I used it during my second team event. I shot 300/800. The ball was amazing. I've picked up a few more and I am imipressed, everything I've picked up has rolled awsome for me. I can't wait until they release there new products this summer!!

Hammer has been putting out some great stuff in the last year or so, I only expect it to get better.

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

Thanks hombre!! I still can't say enough about the balls I've tried. Everyone of them rolls great. Besides the Widow and No Mercy. I picked up a Toxic. There are some people that have been putting this ball down. I don't see why!! I also got a Pain another No Mercy and Widow both drilled to roll earlier then the other two. I'm planning on gonig out to regionals starting next month.

From what I see, the TOXIC is not a great ball for the higher rev guys unless a pin axis layout is used.  This ball seems to work well for lower rev bolwers.

I have seen the Toxic roll well for High Rev Players... a more rolly layout has to be put out on it to get it to start its motion and get that snap at the proper time... most pinup layouts on this ball wind up pushing passed the break and being extremely over under due to the skid snappy nature of the ball itself...

pin axis is a definite money layout on this ball... also the Rico1 layout works great on this ball because its still clean through the heads with the pearl cover and has great recovery as well...

i have mine pin 1 inch below my bridge with the cg at a 45 degree andgle with an x-hole at 45 degrees as well... this ball rolled great when i bwoled the pba experience league on the U S Open pattern and recently rolled an 811 series with it.. i have a NIB Toxic downstairs next to my TV and im trying to decide what im gonna experiment with on this one...

low rev players also benefit from this ball because of the delayed hooking power it has and with slow ball speed it is great for many bowlers along with the low rev rate because of its natural recovery...

another good layout for this ball that i have suggested to a few bowlers in my home center is to go with a leverage layout... gets the ball to rev up sooner and still has backend motion because of the snappy pearl cover...

but back to Sand Man, good luck with making the right move to Hammer... it seems that your success is only beginning for you and the Hammer Equipment and wish you the best with your new equipment.. and dont forget when you get a chance grab a Raw Hammer Doom... that is a must have for any Hammer Head :-D

i have read your posts about the Toxic not being that great of a ball. They did make me think twice about getting it. I ended up getting one cause of the mixed reviews and a friend of mine was using one that rolled really well. I drilled the pin in my middle finger cg kicked out about 1 1/2in. from grip center with a weight whole. It is really long. I used it in league on fresh and shot 725 and I used it on a broken down Cheetah pattern. On the cheetah, I played down five coming out the back of the ball with little hit. The Toxic cleared the fronts and still powered it's way to the pocket with little effort. Like everyone has been saying it is condition sensitive and you just need to know when to pull it out.

Me and a few guys put the cheetah out last night after league.  I was using a toxic and another guy was using a doom.  I was playing 7 to 3 with my toxic and shot 289.  Toxic was killing this shot.

When I started out on the Cheetah I was using a Pain straight up five coming out the back worked pretty good for a couple of games. Then it got a little jumpy so I switched to the Toxic same line a little stronger release and it was money.
I'm sorry chitown I am definitely going to have to disagree with you. This is really a better ball then you realize.

Welcome to Hammer!

You won't regret trying any of these balls.

Ever since i switched over, i've had some good success.

Best line up i have is the No Mercy, Black Widow, Toxic, and Blue Vibe.

Update to my switch. I'm still happy with my choice in choosing Hammer. Since I last posted. I picked up a Vibe and a Toxic. Both work really well. The Vibe is surprisingly strong with excellent carry and the Toxic has worked out really well for me when I bowl my second shift league. I'm still in love with my NM, I rolled another 299 with it a couple of weeks ago. I Got a little fast in the 12th. It happens!! The Black Widow continues to impress, I shot 773 with it last night in league. My specs are in profile. It's drilled with pin under bridge 5 1/4 from pap & MB at 45* with a weight hole. Clean through the heads, has a nice read in the mid lane and finishes strong. Can't wait until they realease some new products. Really looking forward to see what they release. I'm considering getting a Doom, not sure casue of how close Bowlepo is.

I'm really happy with my Hammers too!  I have the BW, Toxic and Blue Vibe.

My toxic is drilled with a variation of the high rg, length layout and it is very effective with an up the back release.  Being a high rev player, if I get on the side of the Toxic it goes right through the face.

I've only got a couple games on the Widow so far, but it is even stronger then the Toxic.  Should be a good med-heavy ball for me.

The Vibe is being delivered today.  I hope it fits in under my Toxic.
