I pulled the trigger last night and bought a BITE. I'm picking it up from the pro shop on Friday. I'm going to try it out at league this weekend.

For those that own the BITE, hiw did you like the OOB surface? Did anyone dull this ball to a lower grit?

I drilled one exactly like my solid just to compare how much stronger it was. With both balls at 4000 abralon the Bite was a good 4 and 2 stronger than the solid. It picks up a roll much sooner, but still has good backend. I have since taken the cover down to 2000 which makes it stronger still but a bit smoother in the back. Its going to stay at that grit for a while I think. I have a second one on the way that I'm laying out pin down.

Blue, your layout looks similar to the one I went with on my BITE. I think my MB is a little bit closer to my thumb but the pin is just about in the same location which is 5" from my PAP.

I normally use a pin above the bridge location which is 5 1/2" from my PAP but decided to go a little stronger with this ball. I hope this ball works good for me.

For the longest time I didn't think a 1/2" move of the pin from the PAP would make that much difference in ball reaction. Boy was I wrong! I had 2 NM's with the same HART location but different pin placements. One had the pin above the bridge 5 1/2" from my pap and the other was above the ring 5" from my pap. The NM with the pin above the ring (5" from PAP), had more distance between the flare rings and flared about 1" to 2" more than my NM with the pin 5 1/2" from my PAP (above the bridge).

My Bite is also very close to yours. I used 5 1/8" pin/pap with a 55 degree MB. I have no weight hole, but I might add one if I think it'll help, haven't thrown mine, just drilled it last night.

Took a fresh white SB pad to it just a light hit to knock off anything left from the factory, didn't change the cover, not that hard, just a good cleaning, more or less.

Both of those are 4 1/2" pin to pap and 4" MB to pap. I also have 1 of each with pin downs and similar numbers but the MB's are a bit closer to pap

I wasnt a huge fan of the NM. I had 2 different ones and they were both good but I couldn't get them to do what I wanted. Even with cover changes and layout tweeks. I could get it to read well but then the backend would fade. Then when I had it with good backend, the midlane wasnt all that good. The Bite rolls better and reads the lane very well and still has good backend. If I take the cover down, it reads even better and sooner but doesn't drop off a ton in the back.

I think the BW series is a little more versatile when it comes to cover changes and layouts without sacrificing one part of the lane for another.

just got my bite a couple nights ago, and WOW! hit, carry, hook. mine's drilled almost the same as yours bluerrpilot, 4 1/2" to pap, 45*. What an amazing piece.

Compared to my No Mercy this thing lets me move 7 boards left easily. My bite is probably 3-5 feet longer than the NM, and wow does it move! I love my NM, but the Bite is a horse of a different color. Comparing the two is almost apples to oranges.
