Need some help on this arsenal..
« on: October 29, 2006, 04:54:33 AM »
Hey everyone,

I was wondering if this mini arsenal would work for a normal league pattern? I know it's small and might have some gaps, but all i want is a small one for now. Here's what i was thinking..

Heavy Oil (not a flood): No Mercy

Medium Oil: Raw Hammer DOOM

Light Oil: Switch Blade (my switch blade is getting old, and losing hook, it's over 4 years old i think)

Would this be ok for an arsenal?

The NO MERCY sounds like a great choice for heavier oil.  The Doom will worked great for med.  I don't know anything about the Sling blade so I can't comment on that one.

Well if I was doing a mini ball arsenal IMO from what i've used it would look more like this.

Medium Heavy: Pain

Medium Light: Doom

Those two could get you through pretty much everything, just look at Chitowns profile and when I get my stuff updated and start making my review of my pain you can see.

But in leagues i've never had a problem with those two (i've also got a plastic)i've never had any problems, less speed with pain or more speed with doom other wise start with pain switch to doom everynight.

No problem FastTracker, hammers really got some winner IMO with the Raw Hammer line, if they get a pearl particle cover ball with the same core i'd be in heaven but the Pain is a great ball, lay it out same as doom, when teh Pain overracts just switch to the doom. Sometimes I've found a pearl particle in there would be nice or maybe a black widow (need to try one out) or even a sanded doom to fight lighter conditions with carrydown though.

hey everyone, how would a DOOM, and a Black Widow be, if i need to cover just league conditions? just wondering, because that Widow is a BEAST!

EDIT: How would this arsenal sound? (remember just for a mini arsenal)
- Black Widow (drilled as strong as possible)
- Raw Hammer DOOM (drilled pretty strong, but not too strong)
- Track Desert Heat (drilled very weak)

thanks in advance

I think with the Doom and either the BW or the Pain, you could cover any medium condition on a THS.  My teamate and I both have a polished pearl for med/light and he has the Pain and I have the BW for med/heavy.

The Pain works better for him, he tends to put a lot of side rotation on the ball and I think the BW would be way to sharp and inconsistent for him.  I stay behind the ball more and like to play a little deeper but down and in, so the BW works better for me as it gets more length and is all about the backend.

So both combos could work, the Doom/Pain would be a little cheaper and also give you two different looks.  A skid/snap one and an arcing one.

That would probably work just fine.

I agree though that the Pain/Doom combination would take care of most typical league shots. The Desert Heat would be a nice ball to have just in case, but I'm sure you can move and adjust with the Doom for a lighter pattern.

If you're bowling the same pattern and usually the same oil pattern, you could probably get away with one ball, though two would be best.
