Title: 299 - 804 with Black Widow Bite
Post by: Spider Ball Bowler on February 08, 2008, 08:00:33 PM: I'd like to congratulate my teammate Mike Busch for shooting 299, 279, 226 - 804 tonight with his Black Widow Bite at Airway Lanes in Waterford, MI.

I was a distant 2nd on our team with a 730 (227, 257, 246)using my Black Widow Pearl for all but the first 5 frames.

The ball is pretty sick. Another quality release from the Hammer Squad.

Now I'm not sure getting the Cell was the best idea for me

I think I bowled there many years ago. Is that the one on west side of Dixie Hwy?

Post by: Calman on February 09, 2008, 08:41:31 PM: No, Airway Lanes is located on M-59 between Cresent Lk Rd and Pontiac Lk Rd. I think you're refering to Cherry Hill North, the old Howes Lanes...

Yea there are a few of us around....more so from around the state then from right around our area.

How much do you love the WALL at Airway?

Post by: Spider Ball Bowler on February 12, 2008, 07:32:34 PM: I never really bowled well at Airway on the wood. I shot a 300 in practice the first game I ever bowled there, then bowled in leagues and averaged 201 both seasons.

I came back for the first time this year (I bowl with Howie the pro shop operator) and I'm averaging like 227 or 228....

It works to my A game, because if I can play straight, and find some area, well I am good to go. If I could just pull my head out of my...well you know...I might be posting about an honor score sooner or later.

Post by: keeones23 on February 12, 2008, 07:44:52 PM: As of recently i just started playing straihgter and I actually prefer it now as opposed to when I started. I used to be a no-thumber but i quickly got out of that. Before I would try to swing the lane but I found thta straighter is greater on my avg. I'm at a 190 and I'm still learning every time out. I've had howie drill several of my balls. I just was in there the other day to "support our local Pro" but he didn't have what I was looking for and it was on a backorder for like two weeks. I like howie though he's real helpful.

Post by: Spider Ball Bowler on February 12, 2008, 07:54:21 PM: Yea I have learned unless you have a ton of hand it's pretty hard not to play a pretty straight line in that house. We bowl on the 2nd shift after the plastic women bowlers, so it can get messy at times.

That house is a good one for confidence. Other than that, I can't say too much. The only thing I find myself having to do is adjust my feet to find the right angle to carry.

Keep practicing and if you have a chance ask Howie for advice on how to play the lanes. He's a pretty knowledgable guy.
