Cherry Vibe vs. Mars
« on: April 06, 2009, 02:35:55 AM »
To all,

I currently own a Cherry Vibe (drilled Pin between & above both fingers, cg in palm, my PAP is 4.5 inches across and 1/2 inches up) for over a year.  It was supposed to be for dry lane condition but I found that the ball is too aggressive for me, especially with the strong flip in the backend which often makes it uncontrollable.  I also own a Razyr but it tends to be similar to me, often even stronger than the Vibe in certain condition.

Then I saw the video of Mars online and with the way it travel down the lane, would seems to be a weaker ball than Vibe but still very controllable and predictable.  I am wondering if this will be something that I should look into.

I normally bowl at house with a lighter volume of oil, and a shorter pattern

Not much I can described about my spec accept I am with med rev but slower speed.

Any feedback are welcome.

Thanks.

You are Dead On. The cherry vibe is more aggressive then people think. The mars is alot more Tame, But it hits like a truck as well. I think its a great ball for the drier conditions. It wont give you that over reaction on the dry.

If the Razyr is to strong for you, then this is the ball you seek. It is a great ball for the drier conditions and a spare ball to boot(for me any way) One less ball in the bag!.

You might try to adjust the surface of the Razyr to smooth it out maybe a fresh sand to get it to read a little sooner but not jump off the spot so much. The Mars is goin to be more than the Razyr but it will be smoother and can be tamed down by drilling and surface. If your set on one id say go pin in the ring finger Cg close to the midline to keep it smooth. I have a Pluto same core and a solid version of the cover and this ball is all roll.

Have to chime in, because I throw Hammer and Roto.

All of the above, mentioned by previous posters is correct! That little flip at the end, that all the Vibes seem to have, is what makes them not quite right for dryish conditions.

The Mars will definitely be a more controllable piece as the heads get fried and the track gets scorched.

The Razyr is Hammer's best dry lane, controllable piece to date. I love the movement and hit of that ball. Just like NthDitch said, you might want to tune the surface of yours with a white or grey pad, just to smooth it out more.
