The Anger paid for itself today. I normally won't take a ball with me to a tournament unless I've thrown it and know what it likes and dislikes. I decided to take it with me a tourney today, a scratch doubles in a house that I've never bowled in before.(move two pairs right after every game)
The tournament director thought it was the house shot. I'm not sure if it was this houses THS or not. I was able to hit the pocket from a few angles with my inferno, but the reaction was weak and anything inside 10 down the lane reacted very soft. I thought you had a small window to carry consistently, but a slightly larger window to get to the pocket. I pulled the Anger out about halfway thru practice and was able to get lined up quickly.
I started looking 13 with a breakpoint at 10 and no further right. My hand position was on the side of the ball. I stayed in this general area for the first 4 games, making minor target or feet moves for carry.
236-268-223-258
The 5th game of qualifying the lanes transitioned into a HUGE wet/dry. I moved deeper and moved my target deeper.
237
The last game, lanes 15/16 my look started to go away. I struggled to find a consistent BP and had my first open of the day in the 6th frame of game 6. I mustarded a 213.
Shooting 1435 for 6 games, thats a 239.16 avg. I made 138 in high game pots and brackets, which I only invested $46 in.
Our doubles team qualified first, but we were unable to maintain and slide all the way to 6th in the finals. Dan and I bowled well, but our carry really went south. I didn't even shoot a 200 in the 4 game match play finals, 184-196-197-188 all with 4/5 single pins a game.
Overall, I walked out with $150 more than my entry costs, which more than paid for my new Anger. The last ball I ever drilled up that impressed me this much was the original inferno. I switched back and forth between the Anger and OI in the finals but I just could kick the 10 out.
