Emerald Vibe...
« on: September 12, 2008, 03:22:43 AM »
I am thinking of getting this Vibe. I had the Cherry and Blue before and they were great. I heard that the Emerald is suppose to be longer than the Cherry but more flippier. Is that true? Also i've seen a lot of people drill this ball pin under because they say this ball goes long.

Please tell me how do you have yours drilled and if it's better to go pin up or down. Thanks.

I've got all 3 vibes and the Emerald vibe is deff. the strongest in the back part of the lane. For me though, it picks up a little bit sooner than the cherry vibe but has a much more dramatic move in the back part of the lane. Its a great THS ball IMO. I do have mine drilled pin under but that was to mellow the ball out. I plan on buying another one and drilling it pin up. Great ball.

I skipped the cherry but the blue is one of my favorite balls. I highly recommend the emerald.

I talked with Jeff Urressy at Hammer and he said he likes to put the pin up on the Emerald because it gives more separation in his arsenal. He said putting the pin down will make the ball roll earlier and be a bit smoother. So i decided to get a 3 to 4 pin ball and put the pin over bridge and cg under ring. If it skids too far i can alter the cover of put a weight hole 2 inches down from pap to get a little more midlane.

Let me know how you like the reaction with that layout.

I got my Emerald drilled today. It has a 2-3/4 pin from the CG to middle of the pin. I drilled it pin over bridge with the cg kicked out slightly. I used it in league tonight. The house i bowl at has older HPL synthetics. The lanes are oiled pretty decent i say at least 38 feet. Volume is medium with some carry down. The Emerald is very clean up front with a nice angular move on the backend. It definitely responds to different hand positions easily but hits like a mad truck. I had one great messenger which i thought on one shot i got the ball too far out but it came back slow and hit the head pin kind of light and then a messenger flew across the deck and killed the ten pin. That was awesome. The only thing with this ball that you need to be careful of is speed. You can easily throw it through the break point. I had one 2-8-10 because i threw it too far out and it got into the film. Anything outside 5 was no man's land.

Wish we had to worry about throwing ball through the break pt at my house... Its almost impossible even with the emerald.. But I do get the best reaction of all my equipment with my emerald.. I still have to play 19-20 at arrows to about 10
