When the PBA was in Dallas a couple of years ago, jkiser01 talked with Patrick Allen a little about Hammer. At that time (and still to this date) I loved the original 3D Hi-Rev and asked him his thoughts on some of the older equipment on the patterns they were throwing on.
His main comment was that the covers weren't strong enough. Having thrown on a modified version of their pattern (jkiser01 and I bowled in a tourney there), I can attest to that.
On a THS or something therein, the older Faball stuff really kicks some butt. Then again, a lot of older balls do. But since this is a Hammer forum!!
Me personally....I like the older stuff as they don't have a tendency to overreact as the lanes change. I like the smoother reaction and can gauge what's going on a lot better with the backend of, say....the Hi-Rev or a Bravo Pearl....a lot more so that watching people toss the Black Widow and have it snap as the lanes move.
I think it's easier to control the ball with minor speed changes whereas something that's more violent on the backend can cause more drastic unwanted results as a result of speed changes.
Overall, it's my preference I guess. But, seeing as it's a Hammer....you really can't go wrong now....can you!!
