Is "No Mercy" good for Heavy or Long Oil?
« on: December 14, 2006, 10:27:49 PM »
I'm buying a ball today and I'm thinking about getting the No Mercy. I suddenly need a ball for longer oil (it appears that both of my houses suddenly remembered how to oil lanes). Is this a good choice, or are there other balls that I should consider?  Scorchin Inferno? Big One? MoRich stuff (but they seem to die early)? Hawgzilla? thanks!

The NM is a great ball for heavier oil.  Just adjust the cover to fit your game and lane conditions.

just shot 300 w/a N.M...would say med. best for #1 over label drilling...

heavier wet pattern would go w/something else...

Hawg Zilla, skid flip? It's one of the smoothest arcing balls in the Hammer line.

I do agree with everything you said about the NM OOB. It can handle med light to medium heavy but it's coverstock MUST be kept at 4000 Abralon or lower. Once it absorbs some oil and takes on a shine (which it does quickly) you'll experience some over/under.

MY NM is drilled similar to layout #7 and it has what I would best describe as an arcular motion (angular arc); has a decent midlane read then revs up at about 40 to 45 feet and bulldozes into the pocket; very strong arc that teeters on being angular. It's a great combination of reactions that all come together to create a very controllable yet powerful piece of equipment.

In the almost 3 weeks I've been using mine I've shot 300,280,279;781,758,739 with it in 3 different leagues that all put out a slightly different pattern.

I think if you altered the coverstock to 1000 or less abralon the NM would be a very worthy long oil ball. Then again, there might be better choices that were designed OOB for such conditions (Total Shock and Awe, etc).
