Title: Arson vs Ransom Demand - anyone compared?
Post by: Metal_rules on September 04, 2011, 10:04:03 PM
has anyone has compared these two balls. i was looking at the R/D, but i really like the hybrid cover that the Arson has, along with a lower rg. let me know.

The Demand will be more overall hook compared to the Arson. The Arson is going to me a smoother more predictable rolling ball compared to the Demand. Hope this helps

I'd agree to an extent, the Demand definitely has more angle coming off the back of the pattern but it isn't a whole lot stronger than the Arson's i've seen, may just be the house pattern clouding differences though. Regardless both look really good on the lanes.

I can't speak to the Arson but the RD is very predictable to me. It's a very strong ball and when the backend dries out look out!

it looks like im leaning towards the Ransom Demand. another question which ball would be better for heavier fresh shots? from what i have read in some reviews the R/D has better back end, while the Arson tends to squirt a little.

You will be very happy with the RD on heavier fresh shots. That's where it shines in my experience.
If you want a true oiler, look somewhere else.

I went to a demo today and got to throw all of the new stuff out by ebo int. i know the balls are all drilled the same, but to my surprise the Arson had a better re-action over the Ransom Demand. what i mean by better is it turned the corner harder then the r/d. it just had a better back end. i just thought id let you all know. i was impressed.

Hey Rack did u try the Encounter and Taboo pearl these two were my best picks the encounter is sooner and has more backend than ransom and thr taboo pearl is lil longer mu h smoother than the Taboo with more overall hook and backend

I did throw the Encounter, it was ok. I wasn't extremely impressed. i believe the Eruption will serve the purpose for what i am looking for. i did not throw the Taboo.

I think it will roll better with some surface

I also tried them on a Demo Day but found the opposite reaction as you, Rack Ripper. I found the RD to be much more angular downlane. In fact, I wasn't impressed with the Arson reaction at all as it made a very lazy downlane move (so did the Epidemic). I threw the RD on a different pair, so I suspect that the lanes were a little different since the Epidemic - in particular - is supposed to be angular downlane. I just wasn't seeing it to the degree that I expected.

thats why demos are good and bad, because you can only get a read on what the lane conditions are in front of you. also the covers are not going to be what you want them to be. i can tell you the r/d that i was throwing at the demo besides not being drilled for myself - the cover was very shinny. i probably would of like to have dulled it up a bit. i guess i will need to do some more research before i decided of which one id rather get? unless i decide on something else.
