Ball to fit between Total NV and No Mercy
« on: June 22, 2007, 01:47:02 PM »
Hello...I am new to this forum and was looking for some advice.  I have a ball speed of 14-15mph with medium revs and would consider myself a stroker (I am a lefty). I notice that on a lot of lane conditions my Total NV does not react or better yet hooks to late and then I go to my No Mercy and it is to aggressive.  What would be a great ball (preferably by Hammer/Ebonite) that would fit imbetween those two balls?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

"Between" is such a misused word when it comes to building a bowling arsenal. You don't necessarily want to "ladder" your arsenal from strong to weak. May times there are balls that will fill the same basic gap for similar lane conditions, but the ball reaction characteristics downlane may be different.

Both the No Mercy and the TNV are pretty hard off the breakpoint when each are thrown on the proper lane condition.

Based on this, I'm thinking that you don't necessarily want something "between" these balls, but something DIFFERENT in overall reaction to give you a different look.

Having said that, I would reccomend taking a look at something with a more EVEN roll on the backend to allow you to play tighter or move closer to the outside boards or track line. Something like the Pain or Anger would accomplish this with minimal damage to your wallet.

Good luck.

The Doom will not take that much oil, UNLESS...you change the cover a lot. If you are looking for something "hot off the press" look at the Game Breaker, bash or Clash from Ebonite, or the Anger ( heavier oil) or Toxic, (med oil ).

The Doom will work, but as I said, you'll need to adjust the cover. If you can find one, the OverTime will work as well.

Well Everybody....I just ordered a black widow pearl...I figured what the heck.  If that doesnt do the trick I may try the anger.  I have altered my
Total NV several times all the way down to 1000 and it just seems to not work like it used to.  I then added ebonite high gloss polish and the ball skidded and didnt hook hardly at all!  That being said, I feel like I have been in a slump lately, so it may be me instead of the ball?  I dont know....but anyways, it will be fun to try the BW Pearl.  I know there is no magic ball that will do the trick, but it sure is fun trying all the different ones!  Thanks....

Well the BW pearl is not going to be has aggressive as the no mercy or at least it will longer before breaking. That is what i want.  If I dont like it, I will get a smoother rolling ball.  I wont know until I give it a try.  Thanks again for your help.

What line do you normally play as that info would help out with some input too?

Just to let you guys know...I know have decided to purchase a Hammer Raw Anger as well.  I hope between the BWP and the Anger, I should have a good line up.  Thanks for all your help. Take Care.
