The BIG DEAL
« on: October 27, 2005, 02:35:34 PM »
I just wanted to know for those that have one does their ball come back crashing extremely hard and hook back somewhat of 15 boards? Just got it for a bday present and i got it drilled today. The first shot was let's see released on first arrow and only hit the 7 pin. threw it down the middle...and came over 15 boards, hit the 7 pin again, and tried adjusting. The ball is not even drilled strong. It's stacked with the pin under my grips and i believe my axis point is 6in away, not sure but i love it. Can't wait til wednesday in league when i can see how it really works. Can anyone lemme know thier experiences with it?

it was very little oil because me and one of my teammates were bowling and it wasn't overreacting for the first couple of shots but after the 1st game maybe the second, i got it to go coast to coast.

A team mate of mine on one of my leagues uses one, he likes it. Never really apid attention to his board count, but he swings it pretty wide.  His only thing against his is lack of oil.

When I first got my Big Deal, I took it with me straight to league and figured it would kill them.  Well, 545 later I was dismayed with the ball thinking "Wow, what a mistake?"  I could not get the ball down the lane, it was rolling out, and hitting terrible.

Then, I polished it to about 1500.  Took it back the next week and the ball did everything I thought it would.  725 and $100 bracket bucks later I was a happy camper and still love the ball.

It gives me good backend and carrydown doesn't seem to deter it significantly.  I am very impressed with the ball and it is always in my tournament bag.  Most league night conditions, it simply is too strong and there is other stuff that works just as well without as much effort.

Hope this helps.

Scott

I too found the Big Deal a bit too much for league conditions most of the time.  It also gave me some problems in the old, spotty wood house I do most of my bowling in, so hence I traded it away recently.  I do play tourneys fairly often, but even there it's rare that I need as much hook as the BD provides.  The tourneys I play in are usually about tougher patterns, not about just plain heavier volumes of oil.  It does hook a lot!

A local stud used it one week in a tourney I was in.

He is a lot like Chris Barnes specs.  Near 19 mph at the pin deck about 400 rpms.

He had a bad break 750 and then a 258 279 finish after that.  One 8 count all day.

His 75x could have been an 879 but he had about 5 or 6 flat and ringing 10s.
And one missed spare!

His speed allowed him to really hum it in there on this longer lower volume shot.

I used an El Nino Wrath!  And bowled alright on same condition.
