Black Widow Sting Vs. B/S Taboo
« on: March 16, 2012, 04:50:36 AM »
Which one of the two is going to have the stronger reaction? I'm figuring it's the Taboo, but I'm not sure what to expect right now. My Sting is my benchmark ball, basically, alongside my Robo Rule.

Current in-the-bag:
Track Robo Rule
Black Widow
Black Widow Sting
Midnight Vibe

Those 2 balls will be very close in overall reaction amount and shape if you use the same layout and surface. If you are talking using the ball with out of box finish, the Taboo gets the edge.

Core dynamics are the same so ultimately the difference is the coverstock and layout. There is definitely room for both in your bag but I would definitely use different layouts and surfaces to widen the gap between the 2 in terms of reaction.

Awesome. I figured it'd be close, considering the Sting is crazy off the dry, or at least it is for me.

I'm thinking of going pin down on my Taboo to make it pick up a little earlier, but that kind of defeats the whole length idea of the ball.

I don't quite know my layout atm, or else I'd post it up. About to be learning the measuring/drilling process, so just kinda gotta bear with me.

Well, got it drilled finally last night. That thing...good god...I mean...I was bowling on a semi-broken down house shot, given, but I was chunking it at the right gutter with a lay-down of about 33 or 34, and watching it go through the nose or brooklyn. MUCH stronger flip than the Black Widow Sting. Drilled it pin even with fingers, and for a strong flip. I got what I wanted!

Current in-the-bag-at-random:

Hammer Taboo Pearl - OOB - 4 inch span
Midnight Vibe - OOB - 4.25 inch span
