Best Heavy oil Hammer?
« on: August 22, 2005, 12:20:45 AM »
Hey everyone,

Here is what my arsenal looks like right now:

Heavy:
Med-Heavy: Real Deal (Slightly polished)
Medium (solid) Blade Reactive
Medium (Pearl) Dirty Bomb
Med-Light: Blazing Inferno
Light: Bullet
Spares: Target Zone

I have a second Real Deal (dull), an Absolute Inferno, an Ultimate Inferno and a Blade Pearl sitting around as well. I'm looking for a ball that will handle a bit more oil than the polished RD. I'm not looking for an absolute soup ball. I'm looking for something that will dig in just a bit harder. What ball or balls in the current Hammer lineup would give me the best option here?

I would agree, Hawg is Hammer's best, so far.

right now the Hawg would be the best but seeing as you already have another Real Deal, just use that and change the surface to something like 600 or 800 dull rather than spending more money

Thanks for the replies so far guys. Please, keep them coming. BowlerKidR,  that was my original plan, but I really didn't like the look that the dull Real Deal gave me. I think the Hawg's continuation will be more of what I was looking for.

I threw the Hawg at a Demo Days.

Also threw the XXcel.  Sort of an oilier league crown.
Helps everyone strike and buy at a Demo Days.

My impression.  Could sense the wet with the XXcel and it went straight and long!  Then flipped nicely!
Good hit.

The Hawg almost made the condition look like there was no sense of oil and dry.

Just smooth, big hook and continuation with lots of hit left for a ball that read pretty early.

But different than solid particle of yore!

It is a PEARL particle.

Have not really seen Real Deal much in action or at least not on oil so tough to compare!

Sense was Hawg was much more continuous.

I was very impressed.

Drilled 5 1/2 X 51/2 (staight over grip so both sides can try!).

JPRlane1,

sorry to burst your bubble, but im almost positive that the Saw Blade is a pearl particle, and it has the cut throat coverstock.

Cut Throat is a particle pearl coverstock...Saw Blade, Real Deal, and Big Deal all had it, I think the variation comes in the particle loads within the coverstock.

Wow I guess my 24 year old memory is not that great even the hammer webiste says particle pearl as when it was first introduced on the real deal.  Thanks for clarifying for me guys.

Oh....by the way!!  I think the Hammer Hawg is a super ball on today's synthetics...As is the XXcel in a different way!

From another topic comparing the Razor to the Saw.

quote:
Here is a copy/paste from Mr. Graham's email reply to my previous post:

The difference in ball motion between the Saw Blade and Razor Blade is due to the finish.  The Saw Blade is sanded to 1000 grit Abralon and is factory polished.  The Razor Blade has the 1000 grit Abralon and is dull.  The Saw Blade actually has a higher load particle than the Razor Blade.

Well there you have it folks, straight from the horse's mouth, no pun intended.

Hope this clears it up and all of you can get your hands on some of these great bowling balls!  You gotta try 'em to believe 'em!

JPR-  isn't there a Lane 1 forum topic that needs responded to??

I don't see any indication of Hammer equipment in your profile, whether being used or waiting to drill.
