BWP vs Doom

I curently have a BWS & a Doom.  Unfortunately I think my BWS and Doom are very close (as far as hook).  I have been seeing and really impressed with what I see with the BWP.  I was just afraid it might be too similar to the Doom.  Will the BWP heavy a more oil than the Doom?  Is it that much stronger than the Doom?

IMO, it is stronger, but remember it has a higher MB, so drilling is the main thing to deal with on those two. Personally, I wouldn't go with those as , unless the BWP is drilled differently than the Doom, you have two balls to close for the money spent. You looking for a heavier oil ball ? Go with the Bite, or an Anger. Drilled right, you can't go wrong with either, just depends on what you want and how much you want to spend.

The DOOM is a strong pearl ball but is not stronger than the BWS.  The BWS has a softer cover which, in turn; allows it to handle more oil than the DOOM.  I'm talking about both balls in there box condition.

The DOOM and BWP will handle similar amounts of oil when both balls are in box condition.  The BWP is going to be a bit stronger than the DOOM on the backend.  

If your looking for a ball to handle heavier oil then take Rogers advice and get yourself a BITE, ANGER or NO MERCY (ORIGINAL).

Side note:  The BWS should handle heavier oil without a bit of problems.  Just take the cover down to a lower grit depending on the amount of oil and length of pattern.

This is the part I hate....what one person considers light oil, might be another person's ( usually mine ) light side of medium. I very very seldom see real light oil, usually lighter side of medium to heavy ( again, NOT soup ).

With the BWP polished, like OOB, it will have a hard time burning up on what I call light oil ( again, depends on definition of light ), as I have seen here. If you think it does/will burn up, a better coat of polish should solve any problem in that area. I guess you'd have to ask yourself, if you do have a BWP and see mostly light oil, do you want to have to polish it everytime ? Why not buy a ball better suited for the light oil ?

I'm not being cold, just always wondered why folks buy a ball, not suited for the conditions they see, and then complain why they have to polish/sand it all the time to keep the reaction they want.

IMO, if you see more light oil, get a Vibe.

Chitown...thanks for the feedback.  I use an Attitude Shift for the heavier conditions.  I actually thought my BW had died and bought that...THEN tried the hot water batch, which seemed to bring my BW back to life.  I have just been impressed with seeing the BWP, and was wondering if the Doom would be too close...but as stated earlier, I would have to consider the drill patterns on both.  Not being real techie, I will have to rely on my pro to help me decide.  Thanks!

From owning both I can say that the Doom and BWP are very similar. But in overall hook the BWP is 3 or so boards stronger and mine has much more midlane. Both of my balls have a very pronounced backend but the BWP reads much earlier and is much less affected by carrdown. Both balls have worked very well for me and I love the Doom but the BWP on flatter conditions and slightly heavier oil is the better choice, they are close on a house shot but outside of a house shot you really see the difference.

I would actually prefer the doom over the Bwp, here is why, though the will handle similar conditions pretty similarly the BWP is very sensitive to lane changes.  The over under seems to come into play immediately after the 1st game.  The Doom seems to stay in play thoughout the night.  This is probably due to the cores and maybe to a lesser extent the covers, but either way, they will have a similar look on the lanes (IMO) and to me, the cheaper ball is the better ball in this case.  Sorry hammer heads, the BWP has been my dissapointment ball of the year.
