Widow Clear...
« on: March 10, 2008, 11:35:08 AM »
I am considering the Widow Clear for my spare ball to go with my Bite.  Does anyone have any experience with this ball?  I've searched thru here and haven't found anything about it.  Thanks for the help!

It's a expensive plastic spare ball. As long as it goes straight, why would anyone write anything about it.

Clear plastic balls are uglier than their standard polyester balls when they start tracking up since they get hazy.  They also seem to "hook" more than regular plastic balls and other than that, the BW spare doesn't have a more dynamic core than a Maxim, so they're just more expensive to have and keep up, IMHO.

Another thing to think about is that clear balls are difficult to see down lane.  They can be hard to read if they hook and miss a pin you could be wondering what happened.  I've known several people who had the old Ebonite Skull ball that got rid of them because they had a hard time reading the ball downlane.

The cover on this ball is 2 inches thick and then grey core so it may not be as bad as some of the others that have been produced.

Thanks for all the advice.  I think I'll save the $ and go with a Vibe!

Mine's holding up pretty well. I"ve had to put it in the Lustre King to shine it back up after a few sets. It seems to go straighter than some Zone's I've had.

It definitely moves less than the old Chicago Cubs plastic ball I used to have.
