Question About Hammer ?
« on: July 24, 2006, 12:24:59 PM »
Ok guys ive been bowling with the Big E and Big B for a couple months now Have a V2 clean and a Swamp Monster. but i was thinking about upgrading for this season. i was looking for something to replace the Swamp with. Me i am a Lefty with about 250 revs and a ball speed of about 16-17mph. All though i threw a Doom today which in my opinion is one of the popular balls out right now ( 3 on Rack tonight ). 1st time ever throwing one and loved it. threw this ball out to about the 5 or 6th board and reacted like a best. Great backend on this bal. I was wondering if anyone would recommend this ball for light-Med oiled lanes. also looking for a ball for heavy oild lanes. Can be either in Hammer manufactor or any other Manu. Thanks for the help guys.

The Doom can work on light to medium lanes if it's drilled properly. Other possible choices would be Track's Solution Power Plus Ex, Heat, Ebonite's Crossfire, Roto Grip's Saturn or Venus. For heavy oil....The Hawg is great. The Hawgzilla is getting lots of good press, Track has the GP2 and the Robo Rule, plus the new Mean Machine coming soon. Ebonite has the Big One or Infinite One to choose from. The Epic Battle is a good ball as well by Roto Grip as would be the Visionary AMD Centaru Solid, or the Partical...if you are on really heavy oil that is. Storm's Passion is also a good heavy oiler.

If you want to go to Hammer.....The Doom is a wonderful ball as is the Hawg or Hawg Zilla. You won't be disappointed.

The one great thing about the Doom, is taking adjustments to the cover. It is a super med oil ball, and a great med/light oiler as well. Much beyond that and you'll have to adjust the cover, but it will take med/heavy to lighter oil conditions.

Heavy oil, staying with Hammer, Zilla. Track has a couple really good heavy oilers, as I hear, but that would be better asked in the Track Forum.

Azguy is right.  The Doom in it's OOB cover will work on med to light oil great.  However it can be used on heavier oil with the polish knocked off.  I have a doom dulled and repolished with Ebonites matte polish. This Doom works great on med/heavy oil patterns.

If your going to build any type of arsenal the Doom is one ball that you will want in your bag.
