302, honestly.. Doesn't every company continue a series? Roto Grip Epic series, Storm Paradigm and Agent series, Brunswick Inferno and Zone series?

I will be looking forward to this.. I think it should be a good ball..

Ok guys heres the scoop...

I jump online today, check BR for some new posts ect.. I see this post about the Bite, check the link and this ball is disappointing to say the least.

Cheesy name and its pretty much a refresh of the original Black Widow.

The bad part is Hammer says this:

"The Black Widow Bite expands the performance offerings in the Black Widow series by offering a stronger hook motion with more aggressive backend.
"

Thats clearly just to broad of description. Just to sell this ball, their telling the customer what they want to hear. I understand thats their business, but this release is just a big let down.

Having said all that, I have shot well with my BW solid

I did'nt care for the original BW,too strong for medium and not enough for heavier patterns.perhaps the bite would be better for heavier house shots.
I feel this line started with the Big Blue so there were many balls that came with the gas mask core.
Big Blue
Big Blue pearl
The Big Deal
Black Widow
BW pearl and now the Bite.
Did I miss any?
I wish/hope for a No Mercy Pearl instead of another widow/gas mask.

302efi,

You're right about the hype. But no one here is arguing that.  I don't like all the hype myself, but the companies are run these vehicles until the wheels fall off.  I say this:  If you can look past the hype, cool. If you can't and have to have the "next big thing" every time it comes out, I feel for you. You'll buy stuff that you don't need because you already have a ball that fits the same catergory.  Big waste of money.  I personally am going to get this ball because I haven't thrown Hammer in years and want to see what I can do with the new stuff that's out there.  Is the name kind of cheesy?  Maybe.  Does it really matter?  Not really.  Will people buy it?  Bet your retirement savings on it.  Ebonite and Hammer have some of the most hyped stuff on the market right now and as long as one of those names is on the ball, you can rely on people biting (no pun intended) that hook and spending what ever mad money they got to own the "MUST HAVE BALL OF THE YEAR".

Urameshii6...I'm glad someone sees what I was talking about.

Thats the sad part...Because alot of people will think that its something totally new.

Hype sells sadly

maybe hammer changed the coverstock's surface somewhat like ebonite has done with the nv vs. the nvs or columbia has done with the resurgence vs. the momentum to give a slightly different look on the lanes.

well i "asked an expert" on the hammer bowling website about the BW Bite. this was the reply.

"The Hammer Black Widow Bite features a more aggressive reactive coverstock than what was used on the original Black Widow and Black Widow Pearl.  This change in coverstock will provide stronger hook motion, more aggressive backend reaction and more total hook than the original Black Widow.  With a polished finish, the Black Widow Bite will provide stronger hook motion with more total hook than the Black Widow Pearl."

enough said. will probably be the same as the rest, but i still wanna get one! =P

I was planning to order another BWS as my fresh oil ball. In the past I've used the BW for those conditions at 2000g. But maybe I should reconsider and get the Bite. Sounds like it will handle the oil with ease....

but: I wonder if it will still have the same ignore-the-midlane, leave-it-all-for-the-backend shape that the BWs are known for.

Will bowling balls soon be LITERALLY making right angle, 90 degree, turns on the backend, or what?

According to the other thread on the Bite, it looks like a winner.  Maybe the strongest of all Hammer balls

I think the ball will be a great ball....and that comes from someone who hasn't seen a new ball since the Deal was released!!  Nice!!!!

I do agree though Chad!!  Instead of hooking 32 boards....this one will hook 36!!  Gotta have that new one!!

The key is not how much it hooks but when to use it. Lets see how many league bowlers try to use the new BWB on a 36ft house shot and have to polish it to keep it on the pocket side. Most could spend less on a Vibe and win more points or money.

Don't get me wrong, I'm getting it when it comes out.

Very well said!  I agree 100 percent.

It's not how much it hooks but when it hooks and what type of reaction shape is needed to strike on a particular pattern!

The coverstock must be really strong, since this ball ,according to hammer, is their highest hooking ball and its 4000 polished.
