What's your choice?

If you had to pick one or the other, would you take the Cherry Vibe or the Blue Vibe to combat drier conditions?

Cherry hands down.  The Blue is a lot more aggressive than the Cherry.  I know, I originally bought a Blue Vibe to combat dry lanes, and found myself using it on medium lanes because it flat out MOVES on the backend!  The small particles in the coverstock on the Blue Vibe really make it bite.  If you want a more controllable ball to combat drier lanes, between the Blue and the Cherry Vibe, the Cherry is it!

I don't know what some of you bowl on or your definition of dry is, but in no way would I suggest the Cherry for dry.  I can't compare the Cherry to the Blue like you want, but the Cherry is a monster on med/light and too much ball for what I'd call dry.

He only gave options of the Cherry or the Blue Vibe, that's it.  If he had asked for another ball suggestion outside of the Vibes I would have gladly offered some other balls which work even better than the Cherry Vibe on dry lanes.  But, since the poster only wanted to know which ball between the Cherry or the Blue Vibe handles "drier conditions" better, I gave him my answer, which is the Cherry Vibe hands down.  If he wants to stay with the Vibe series I would suggest a longer pin distance (5 inches or greater), and load up the finger weight by putting the pin above the bridge with a slight cg kick out.  Just my .02, good luck and good bowling!

There are no particles in the blue vibe per Brian Graham.

That's why I phrased my answer the way I did.  I wasn't trying to say anyone else's information was incorrect, but hated to see someone try to make a ball fit where it wouldn't.

Actually, I forgot about Andy at Creekside.  He has both a Cherry and a Blue Vibe.  They have very different drilling's, so I'm not sure if they are so different because of the drilling, or the balls themselves.  I think the Cherry has a length/flip drilling (pin over the bridge, CG stacked below) and the Blue has the pin lower and much closer to the PAP (~2" pin to PAP, CG back towards grip center).  The Cherry covers a lot more boards and is much stronger off the dry.  The Blue is earlier and arcs, much smoother reaction.

They have different covers, so again, I'm not sure if it's that or the drilling's that make the difference.  With modern thinking suggesting that cover/surface is ~70% of reaction and drilling ~15%, I'd still say the Blue would be a better choice for dry based on what I've seen.

If you want length and flip to open up a light THS, look at a Cherry with a weak drilling.  If you want to tame down flying back ends, get a Blue and drill it appropriately.

I do have both. And it really depends on what type of look you want. Both are a little strong for too light or too short of patterns. The Cherry is more long and strong flip than the blue. The blue has more of an arc shape to it. The cherry also reacts quicker to friction than the blue. Because of that, the blue makes for a better dry/light oil ball. It becomes more controllable

Ok, I messed up by being too general. I am looking for the answer to high friction Guardian heads and backends the finish fairly strong. I

Cherry gets through the lane so much better. The blue one hooks a lot

I have seen the Cherry Vibe, but not the blue vibe.  I'd say based on the numbers the Cherry Vibe would be much better suited for drier conditions.  That said, it depends on the bowler.  If you can kill the rotation you will be able to use slightly stronger equipment on drier conditions than someone else.

IMO, they cover about the same amount of boards.  It just depends on if you want a earlier, but smoother reaction or a longer but flippy reaction.

I don't think you can go wrong with either ball.  I have the Blue Vibe and like it A LOT!  The BV can handle a lot of conditions if the bowler is able to move around the lanes.

If that is the case, than Hammer has some explaining to do.  Here is the link to the hammer product information page: http://www.hammerbowling.com/tech_info/info.php

Look at the coverstock from the Blue Vibe stating that is is CT Reactive.  Look at the bottom where the asterisk is stating that "Hammer's Cut-Throat coverstock features an aggressive base reactive with particle and pearl additives".  I take that to mean that the Blue Vibe is a particle blend ball, and the Cherry is just a straight reactive ball.  This is the reason why there is such a drastic difference between the Blue and Cherry Vibes, and if you are a bowler who does not like particle equipment, then stay away from the Blue and go with the Cherry, it is much better on a drier pattern (given they are drilled the same way) than the Blue Vibe.
