Black Widow Layout
« on: September 28, 2006, 06:49:36 AM »
I've heard success stories with a 60 degree layout, with the pin above the fingers.  Any other specific advice for laying out my BW?  You can check my profile for what I have now and how they are layed out.

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Selliger of the Southern Cal bowling league. I just got a report that a member of your team, Walter Solcheck, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true, it controveens a number of league bylaws.

i would say make sure the MB is a little closer to the thumb to get that snap reaction that is making the widow famous... dont go further than 2 inches MAX from ur thumb with the mb.... pin anywhere above the fingers on this ball has been money for me and anyone that i have drilled one for... i also had success with 5.5 inch from my pap pin under the middle finger and i kicked the cg and mb about 3-4 inches... it reads early even when polished but somehow has nice backend motion still....  i would suggest if this is ur first widow gow ith pin above the fingers just keep that mb near the thumb

Thanks, Mason.  I want that snap to play from inside, and I understand this is the ball to really turn the corner hard.

also, if you find that it isnt giving you enough backend, bring it down to 1000 abralon, that will wake this ball up like none other.

i LOVE my BW, Mine is drilled fairly simple, Pin above & next to the ring finger, MB about an inch away from the thumb hole.   I had to shine it up because i typically dont like dull balls, & actually HATED the BW at 4000abralon(to me thats fairly dull).  After shining it, its my perfect med-oil ball.

Although, after its been shined, i noticed it DOES NOT like oil.  So i drilled up a Morich TSA & took it to 1200(OOB is 400grit & it was just WAY too dull for me).

Anyway, im almost considering buying another BW, but ill probably wait for the pearl to come out & see peoples reviews on the pearl b4 deciding.
