Black Widow or Mean Machine???
« on: September 01, 2006, 09:39:12 AM »
How do these two balls compare to each other?  Anyone thrown both?  I'm looking for a new ball for med-hvy oil on synthetic lanes on a THS, with some carrydown from the plastic balls that most of the women throw in our mixed league.  Which would be the better choice or are they too much alike?  I can get a good deal on the MM right now, but I'm intrigued by the BW.

I've got a Mean Machine, and it also cuts through the carrydown like it wasn't there.  I don't think you'd go wrong with either one, but I think the MM is a little stronger overall.

The Mean Machine is a little stronger, but the Black Widow is more versitale on different lane conditions.

i have thrown both balls and they are both great balls.the black widow goes a little farther and has more snap into the pocket. hte mean machine has a very smooth break into the pocket and clears the pins out. i dont think you can go wrong with either ball,

this depends on how you have it drilled. Naturally - the mean machine will go farther than the Black Widow because of the stats on the Mean. Now, you can make the mm check up earlier, which is not a bad idea, but I think the MM is stronger and longer overall. Depends on what drill you put on it although.

I throw it all, just give me a ball, I'll throw it. =]

Hmm thats backwards of what I would think by looking at the balls, Grit would make the Mean burn energy earlier thus hooking earlier, while the 4000 grit, much higher on the Black Widow IMO would get it farther down the lane reguardless. So you could probably get any sort of a reaction between the two depending on the drilling due to the high mass bias.
