Just to piggyback off of the Purple Hammer thread..

Two months ago, 3 new balls made it onto the approved list, which are all overseas: Black Widow Black, Black Widow Red, and Black Widow Purple. Apparently, some of these are creeping in stateside, but they are primarily overseas only. A review of them:


Of course, the translations on the video leave a hell of a lot to be desired.

The Purple definitely has shelf appeal, and the colors on the Black remind me of a Columbia Black Knight or Brunswick Black Beauty straight out of the box. The white seriously pops. But that's about it. Personally, I'm a pass on them as I don't know how they'd fit in my bag, but they are available at certain shops that I see.

Red looks more like the pink widow

More like a hot pink, yeah, I can see that..

If they made it the color of say, Faball Red, that would make some people see the eye candy..

Bowlersmart has/had the Purple listed for sale today.

Yep.. 12-16lb are still there.. According to Beans, this should slot in between a benchmark asymmetrical ball (read: Obsession Tour) and a benchmark symmetrical (Ordnance/GB4/Intel Solid/IQ Tour/etc.)..

That's a very fine window to fit this ball through, as if it is as versatile as stated, I could see it overlapping/Venn Diagramming between all of those balls to where it comes down to feel as to what to use.

I'd almost grab one of these just to have as a trophy, but I'm still mainly a pass on this. I'd love to see what Chris has to say about the Black Widow Black first.

Well, I was going to blame them, but I can't.

The Black Widow Purple is now up on Ebay, with the highest bid on an auction being $355.

I was initially going to blame the seller and say that they bought it from BowlersMart and now are trying to resell to make a profit, but I noticed that the seller is bowlingoverstock, which is BowlersMart's Ebay storefront.

Seeing that they have it on their site for less than half their price, the fact that the current bid is at $355 and there are 20something bids on it tells me they're going to make back what they paid to get these over here..

Not to get into a pissing match - but the weight was listed on those days as an option but under the weight it would say “out of stock”. I know because I tried to order a 15 and a 14 on Saturday and 15s were already gone by 1230 - 30 minutes after going live. I got my 14. About an hour later I said to myself I should get another to either stash or sell.  By then 14s and 16s also said “out of stock”. Only 12s and 13s were available at that point.
