Black Widow Question

Just received a Black Widow, considering the flip D layout on it.  Anyone tried it on the BW?  Wondering what to expect from it on old wood lanes with wet/dry and excessive carrydown.

mine was drilled semi-strong and all it wanted to do was hook in oil.after 8 frames it was useless,roll out,no recovery.I pluged it and re drilled with the flip lay out but won't know what it dose untill sunday night.

I have 2 BW's one drilled pin above bridge (5 1/2 inches from pap) with the mb just to the right of the thumb. The 2nd one is drilled pin above ring finger and mb in the strong position. The first one revs up sooner, exhibits a strong flip at about 50 geet and has a last second hook set reaction. The 2nd one has a very strong and continuous hook/snap reaction.

I used the strongly drilled BW last night in league. It was the first time I'd thrown it so I wasn't sure what to expect. During pracrice a couple people asked if I thought the lanes were oiler than usual. I honestly couldn't tell because the BW was cutting through everything and giving me a very strong but controllable hook snap. I shot 497 the first 2 games and ended up with 717. I used the BW the emtire set and didn't move more than 2 boards during the night. I stood at 15 and shot straight up 8. The BW went long and then turned on the afterburners straight into the pocket.

The prior week I used BW #1 and shot 755 on a similar pattern.

I know a lot of people think drilling the BW strong is a no-no but my experience is that each drilling has it's place. Tonight I'm shooting in the Masters League and will to take both BW's with me. I polished up #2 as the lanes tend to get a bit crispy in this league. I doubt I'll be able to use either BW all night but I'm curious how the polishing might tame #2 down a bit while maintaining a strong backend reaction.

The Black Widow is weak. I cant even get mine to move!!! I had it sanded because it won't move. The One is a much stronger and better ball. No Comparison.

my widow is layed out 5 and a half pin from pap and i have mine mb kicked 2 inches from midline mine is clean in the fronts and really comes on in the backend it dosnt roll out just keeps on trucking it is a little weaker than my g3 gryphon but over all is a great ball

the m.b. on mine worries me.it's drilled pin 51/2" from pap but the m.b. is 3" from thumb center with the c.g. right in the center.I really don't want to polish this ball as I liked the factory 4000 grt finish.

does yours weigh out ok??? mine is smooth it hooks a bunch but not overwhelming over all it is a great ball

it was drilled 4' from pap with the m.b. 2' from thumb and it was only good for heavy oil.if I moved in when the shot dried up it had no energy left to turn the corner.as tonybowls stated his won't hook at all,ROLLOUT CITY TONY.

wow what a diff mine is a 4 inch pin and drilled as started and roll out is something i havnt seen yet

This is absolutly incorrect.  To say this ball is weak is rediculous to say the least.  If yours isn't hooking it's probably due to it burning up beyond belief.  

Pleas if your going to post a reply make it believeable.

yes when this ball burns up it dose it better than the rest of them.I have to beleive alot has to do with the strong core as my  the big deal acts alot in the same manner as the B.W.as far as rollout goes but my razor blade will still have some hit left.as long as my B.w. stands up on the backend in med long oil I will be a happy camper.

That MB placement is going to get the ball into it's roll fairly early.  Even with a long pin to pap your still going to get it rolling early because the mb is close to the VAL.  

I would polish the ball if the reaction is not what you want.  If that doesn't work for you then plug and redrill it.

I like symmetrical balls much better than asymmetrical.  However each ball has it's place.  I just got a BW and wont be able to try it out until Sunday morning.  I have seen the BW in action and it's a very strong ball with a lot of back end recovery.

I have found that with asymmetrical balls that I need to keep the mb close to the thumb.  This gives me a nice reaction that wont roll too early.
