Title: Black Widow specs

Are these specs any good:


3 1/4 oz. top weight
Pin 1-2"


Even though the pin is quite short, would it still be good?

depends what you want.I think it would be smoother of the break.if you want longer and a snap look for a longer pin distance.not to say it won't move in the back end but in general I've found longer pins have more backend and shorter pins start up earlier and are more controllable.

I want it to act differently than my Strike Zone. I figured they'd be around the same in hook, but I really want a Black Widow.

Well I'm pretty sure my Strike Zone hooks early and I want my Black Widow to either go under my Strike Zone, or just react differently.

If your SZ is OOB finish then the BW is a totally different animal. The SZ will rev up early on anything but heavy oil while the BW has very little midlane read saving most of its energy for a strong snap/arc in the backend. Even with a short pin the BW will go much longer than the SZ. Remember coverstock dictates the majority of a balls reaction. The BW is 4000 grit abralon while the SZ is 800 grit wet/sand.

Personally, I'd look for a BW with a pin of 3" or so, unless the one in question is more towards 2 inches then you can drill it for good length.

So if I did get a Black Widow it won't overlap with my Strike Zone? I mean, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get one?

I was just looking at the Widow because I wanted something to go long and I've only heard good things said about it. That and the Doom and Pain.

No overlap. The SZ and BW in OOB condition are as different as night and day.
