I think what 302 is trying to say is, that of course there is a going to be a difference.  But is there going to be a significant difference to where someone would need to get a Venom vs a Bite or an original BW if you already own one?

Exactly !

Is there really a spot for this ball...Or is it just another chance to sell us a ball we don't need ?

I shall rest now

302efi, did Hammer pi$$ in your cornflakes or steal your girlfriend or something?  Why are you trying to rain on everyone's parade?  That's great that you have your opinions but to me all it sounds like you're doing is hating.  Hell you can find similarities in any line of bowling balls if you drill them the same and prep the cover the same.  The Venom could have hooked across one lane and struck on another and we all knew exactly what you're response was going to be to the video.  I'm sure you already had it typed up and ready to paste in here.  Cool it already.

How am I raining on everyones parade ?! So telling people they might be buying the same ball reaction is bad ? Helping bowlers spend their money wisely is bad ? Would you buy 4 balls that did the same thing ?!

Thats what I was expecting by the way they describe it, no ?

Well you said all balls look the same on the THS.  They shot the video on the Scorpion yet your response still supported all the crap you posted previously, weird.  Not to mention you said this release was just a color and name change when Hammer specifically says it's a new coverstock. Personally I think it would be hard to make that assumption without seeing the other 3 throw on the same pattern by the same guys.  For fun let's just say you are 100% correct with your statements.  Without some kind of comparative proof all you're doing is stirring the pot.  I would say 9 replies on here is borerline hating...

It's not unheard of for a ball maker to just change the color and name of a ball and present it as a completely new release.  Brunswick did this same thing with the WIZARD.  Instead of just saying the WIZARD was a remake of the NEMESIS with a new color and name, they tried to fool the bowlers into thinking it was a completely different ball.

Now Hammer/ Ebonite has not had that type of reputation.  I feel Hammer/Ebonite has done a pretty good job of putting out new releases even though some maybe close in reaction to another ball in their line.

I understand where 302 is coming from but I don't think Hammer/ Ebonite tries to fool the bowlers like Brunswick tried.  Nothing wrong with questioning what a ball maker is doing.  I questioned the new Emerald Vibe release because it didn't make sense to me.  Hammer discontinues the Blue Vibe which is a good amount different than the Cherry Vibe.  They replace the Blue Vibe with a ball that's very close in reaction to the Cherry Vibe.  I just didn't understand that type of thinking by Hammer.  However, I don't know how well the BV was selling.  I'm sure if the BV was selling like crazy they wouldn't of discontinued it.

I also look at it like this.  If the BITE and VENOM are very close in reaction then just pick which color you like better.  One doesn't need to have both in their arsenal if they don't want to but it's nice to have options to choose from.

302,Chi,

I agree there is minor variations in the overall angle shape and length and what not.  I am not a BW fan I preferred the original No Mercy or better yet the Hawg line.  The BW's to me seem to be to similair and the surface could be adjusted to reach the needs of the ball.

According to the BTM reviews, the Bite and Venom are nowhere near each other

Obviously I can't speak for the Venom but the other three can handle the same patterns with surface variation.

I belive that even Ebonite said that a dulled pearl would handle more oil then a dulled solid reactive, lol

With the right surface prep you can make nearly any ball work on everything but the driest and wetting conditions, especially on the THS.  What's your point?

anyone else realize that they said its very long and strong, yet it picked up in the midlane quite a bit?

Im so glad people are brainwashed to thinking that if they buy a new ball they will carry everything. And its even funnier when im carrying with my 15 year old ball and they're going flat ten.

I'm anxiously awaiting my BTM which is over-due, so I can see what they say as I am interested in it. I normally receive it around the 22nd of each month and some months earlier like the 18th last month, but as of the 25th of this month, no magazine yet.

Wanting to see what they say about the Playmaker also. BShep, was the Ebonite Playmaker in this month's magazine?

Brickguy,
I just got my issue yesterday, so hopefully you'll have yours soon.  They have 14 new balls reviews, including the Playmaker.
