Blue Vibe and its coverstock

A friend just bought one and compared it to his beloved (and I don't use that word lightly!) Storm Agent, the original. He says his BV hooks more than his Agent, but admits the Agent is at least a year old, yet he has maintained it religiously.  So chalk yet another convert up to the Blue Vibe.

Buddies is clearing them out and I am so tempted.

Regarding the Blue's even reacting ball path, so much so that many think it's more a polished solid than a pearl,
I saw this note regarding the Cut Throat coverstock on the Blue Vibe, in Hammer's "Product Technical Information", they say that it's a particle pearl,
"Hammer's Cut-Throat coverstock features an aggressive base reactive with particle and pearl additives."
Since the BV is the only Hammer with the Cut Throat coverstock, this line must be referring to the Blue Vibe.

charlest, the Hawg is the only ball that Hammer has made with the actual Cut Throat coverstock.  The Blue Vibe and also the Hawg Wild both feature the Cut Throat Reactive cover.  I believe this cover differs sligtly in that the regular CT cover has the particle additive in it.

I know the Cut Throat was on the Razor Blade I still have one.
I think it was also on one of the Deals.

charlest, I stand corrected.  It was used on the Saw Blade and the Razor Blade, as well as the Real Deal and the Big Deal.

I would have thought that the BV was a reactive cover, BUT why would Hammer put that statement on the Tech SPec table if it didn't apply to the BV? And I really thought that was why the BV was so even reacting.

charlest, I would have thought the same thing about the Blue Vibe.  My Blue Vibe was just insane.  It's a midlane monster, and I have a hard time finding a long enough oil pattern to use it on consistently.  I find myself using my Cherry Vibe on your THS, Viper, and Scorpion.

I don't know why Hammer put up the info for the CT cover if they don't have it on any current ball.  My only guess is that it was overlooked when the ball list was updated.

Even with your rev rate, this makes me think it is just what Hammer says it is.

I just don't know. I don't doubt you. The BV's reaction makes me think otherwise. Please don't tell me this is another ball I have to test, especially now that it's being discontinued.

charlest, I'm still confused as to what is actually on the Blue Vibe for a cover.  It reacts (for me anyway) like a particle the way it picks up the midlane and has such a strong continuous move to the hole.  But, they list it as a reactive, which has puzzled me ever since I have owned the ball.

What I do know, though, is that these so-called "mid level" balls that Hammer produces blow the doors off of the Widows (I can't say the No Mercy's because that ball is a beast).  The cover on the Blue Vibe is very verstile to changes, and the Cherry is the same way.  If you get a chance to pick one up before they're gone, go for it!!

I just did. For $87 (& $40 to drill it), how can you go wrong with such a ball. I just ordered one from Buddies.

I'm sure glad I don't lock myself into one company. This is much more fun. , but only God knows when I'll get a chance to use it, and she ain't talking.

I agree about not locking into one company charlest (you can probably see that from my profile), it allows me to obtain a very objective and informative opinion about the tendencies of each companies equipment.  Good luck with that Vibe, you won't be disappointed, especially for that price!!

The Blue Vibe seems to be in this grey area of recent hybrid coverstocks and whether it's particle or pearl seems to be a bone of contention. With the reaction shape of mine, I agree with your premise and lean towards particle.

No, I use my own driller.

I have heard they do a very good job, IF you give them the right specs.

Last year at a trade show I was told by a Hammer/Ebonite rep that the Blue Vibe is a direct port coverstock wise of the Hawg Wild, which is a light load particle with pearlization in the color of the ball.  

Call it whatever coverstock you want, pearl, particle, CT, Reactive..... it just rolls well.

I may purchase an ultimate inferno, since I think the blue vibe would overlap my blazing inferno.  I don't really need a ball as strong as the ultimate as we never see that much oil but my arsenal is lacking an oiler, for traveling.  Could have used one at the Nationals.
