Title: Blue Vibe - Coverstock?
Post by: FastTracker33 on June 29, 2008, 12:09:26 AM
This ball has a solid coverstock, correct? I did ask Jeff Ussery this question also, but he kind of confused me with what he said. duh to me.

Let me know soon, please! Thanks!

Vibe is a great choice for the first-time Hammer bowler and serves as the #1 weapon in the Hammer product line for battling dry lane conditions. Featuring a performance core and CT Reactive coverstock, Vibe delivers excellent length and good backend.

Yep, solid, just a high polish on the ones I have seen/sold.

Thanks for the fast reply, azguy! I really need a ball that's sort of like a weak pearl right now. I can get the strong pearl ball of my arsenal, but now I need a weak one.

Does the Blue Vibe give a good push down the lane, or is it an early, super smooth solid?

If you need a weak-er pearl ball I would think that the cherry or emerald vibe would be a better option for you.  The blue is a solid so you might have more options as far as how you can change up the coverstock.

If you already have the blue, change the cover to 2000 or 4000 with a nice polish, then it will probably be what you are looking for. If you are just looking at the Vibes, then I'd say try to pick up a Cherry, very little change in cover/polish then, JMO.

I thought the Blue Vibe was also finished to 4000 grit Abralon + polish????

The Blue Vibe is much stronger the advertised. There has been much talk about the coverstock (is it a pearl, solid) what does having some pearl additive in it mean.(Hybrid?) Ball is a smooth hard charging ball. If you want something weaker go with Emerald Vibe. Fits inbetween the Blue and the Cherry with the Cherry giving you the most length.

It is 4000 + polish, but if he's getting a used one...who knows ? I always like to take a used ball back to OOB myself, that way I know where it is, that's all.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! I know the Emerald/Cherry Vibe would definitely be a better choice, but I found a NIB Blue Vibe on eBay, so that's why i'm asking about this piece.

It has already been decided several months ago, with confirmation from Hammer Tech support, that it is a pure CutThroat solid, with its stock finish being sanded to 4000 grit Abralon and polished with Powerhouse Factory Finish polish.

The Purple, Cherry and Emerald Vines are all pearls.

Had a feeling it was a solid as mine reacts like no polished pearl I have ever thrown.

Thanks a whole lot for the fast replies, guys! I may just pull the trigger on this ball, and replace my Orbit Xtreme Solid with it.

Heck, even I got one, sitting and awaiting a drill and the only Hammer balls I have are a Burgundy Pure Hammer and a Razor Blade (newly resurrected may have finally gotten it to work).

Crap! I lost the Blue Vibe on eBay.

Well, maybe another day.. or maybe i'll just grab an Emerald Vibe now. I like the looks of the DOOM cover being on this ball.

It's actually not the DOOM cover.  It's the same cover that was on the purple vibe.  The Doom had the "enhanced max flip"

Oh, you're right. I didn't realize that.

Then what's the difference between the Purple and Emerald Vibe? All I can tell is different is their OOB surface. :/

I asked this question in a another thread and it was never answered...

My personal "conspiracy theory" opinion is a difference in cover stock. Either it's a tweaked purple's formula or the enhanced version from the doom. The general consensus  was that the purple was squirty on oil. After throwing my emerald I don't see any of those properties.

slap, thank you for your observation.

PM has been sent to Jeff Ussery. Let's see what I can find out. Once I find something out, i'll post a new thread about the Emerald for everyone.

I thought they tweaked the core numbers on the emerald vibe?

Nope, they're dead on the same. I'll be making a new thread about the Emerald later on today. I got the answer from Jeff Ussery himself, about the Emerald Vibe's coverstock.. I will say, it's pretty darn TWEAKED.. and reminds me of another green ball in their recently discontinued line-up..

This Max-Flip Reactive Pearl is the same coverstock that we used on the Toxic recently, and does include the Traction Pearl additive that gives the ball more grip with the lane surface in heavier and medium oil volumes.  If anybody has other questions, please feel free to e-mail me.  Thanks!

That is/was one of the best covers you guys made for a pearl, IMO, a shame it's not used again. Maybe in the future.

This is exciting news! I also thought toxic cover was highly adjustable. Mine spent a lot of time on the spinner and it rolled dull and polished.
