I have a blue vibe with the pin over ring finger and love this ball.  I was wondering if anyone has experimented with taking the surface to a lower grit for heavier oil.  Also, how heavy of oil is it capable of before its just to much oil for the ball and its lost its controlability.  Third, is there a better drilling that would work for heavier oil?  Finally, how does the cherry vibe compare to the blue vibe as far as hook and control go?  I play straighter up the 10 board and prefer a harder break on the end.  Also, I throw in the 18mph range.

the blue vibe is pretty good at lower grits for heavier oil. Ive had mine at 1000 as well and it works very good too. The cherry will have that look you want. Its longer and snappier on the back than the blue

The Blue Vibe works very well on heavier/ longer conditions if dulled to the correct grit.  Now keep in mind that 1000 grit on this ball may work well for me but not you.  You may need to bring the ball to a lower or higher grit. For me 1000 grit abralon seems to work the best on heavier conditions.

I'm willing to say that 80 percent of the current bowling balls on the market can work well on heavier patterns if brought to a lower grit surface.  For this reason it's my belief that a bowler can do pretty dam well building an arsenal out of multiples of the same EXACT ball and a set of abralon pads.  

Don't take the above statements wrong.  I do feel a bowler is best served with an arsenal of different coverstocks.  I just feel that bowling balls today can be used on a ton of patterns with a simple coverstock adjustment.
