bringing a ball back to life

can anyine help me out?i have a track mean machine and legends yeah baby,both great balls when i bought them but now pretty much fried.i've had the yeah baby for over a year and the mean machine for about a month and a half.i've tried different cleaners,the red scotch brite pad from my legends ball,having it de-oiled and resurfaced,all done for nothing.i would love to keep these balls but i'm disappointed in their reaction on the lanes.our THS has been getting oilier and oilier every week and my mean machine just slides now whereas when i first bought it would cut through the oil like it wasn't even there.the same goes for my yeah baby.please,can anyone give me some help.i'm tired of spending money on bowling balls every few months just to get the reaction i want from my equipment.

Is it possible that since they are laying heavier oil down at your bowling center that the balls just are not drilled aggressive enough?
There are so many variables in your situation that there is no telling how to remedy the problem.

What surface grit do you have on each right now?

What method was used to have them "de-oiled"?

second Carl's questions and thoughts...

A good method to get the oil out of the ball is to give it a bath in warm water like mentioned here in the forum lots of times...

you play a THS... so why not simply migrate a bit to the outer boards (right as a right.. left as a lefty).

I use a Tsunami on two differend houseshots and one is oilier with less strong backends and still I can get it to the pocket just by standing 5 boards more to the right and playing the ball 3 boards more towards the channel...

Try it and if that won't help and the balls really skid around... well I have no idea... If you already have tried.. and didn't work forget my thoughts.

How are the two drilled?

Here's my "de-oiling" method I've used on my Morich Awesome Hook and Lane #1 Super Carbide Bomb, and has worked perfect:

rough the surface of the ball with a green or maroon scotchbrite pad to open pores

tape over the fingers and thumb hole with packing tape

set dishwasher on air dry

put the ball on the bottom rack

turn the dishwasher on for a regular cycle-with no soap

remove when it's done, remove tape, and set the ball with the fingers/thumb down to let excess water drain

take the ball back to whatever surface you want to end with

How many times do i have to say that... GE does not make "DISH" washers for bowling balls...

Similarly to your method, I've had great success with:

-Dulling the ball with a burgandy scotch brite
-Soaking the ball for half an hour in hot water and dawn while scrubbing the surface with the rough side of a sponge
- Take it out and dry it off
- With a grey scotchbrite, clean the ball with a strong cleaner (Clean n Dull, or I use Neo-Tac Hook-It) and then clean again with a mild one to get everything off it (Simple green/water)

I've successfully revived 3/3 balls that have died and no problems like cracking or anything else.
