Build the ultimate Hammer arsenal. Since the Ebonite take over which 4 Hammer balls would you choose for the ultimate Hammer arsenal?
Here's my 4
1. No Mercy
2. Raw Hammer Pain
3. Raw Hammer Doom
4. Blue Vibe
I put mine in order of oil handling strength in box condition. I was really up in the air with the No Mercy or Anger but gave the edge to NM because of the success i've had with that ball.

The doom is stronger than the blue vibe? Interesting, looks very solid though Chitown, I missed out on the pain and have tried like hell and haven't been able to find a new one in 15lbs with a pin long enough to go pin up :-(.
I personally would go with
Bite, taking the surface down to 1000 grit abralon
Bite with a polished finish
Doom, box finish
Rayzer, box finish
I personally think i'd be pretty well off with that lineup, my bite with a pin down layout and low weight hole is actually somewhat smooth in its polished state.

Adjust layouts and surfaces as needed.
For reference, I've also owned the Black Widow Pearl, Black Widow Bite, Black Widow Solid, No Mercy and Toxic
But if I had to take four different balls.
1. Bite
2. Solid
3. Emerald
4. Vibe
I've previously posted IMHO the blue vibe is the most versatile ball Hammer has produced over the last few seasons. The emerald is already a close second and I haven't even experimented with the surface yet. I'm tearing up my summer sport/pba exp leagues with the emerald.
Emerald Vibe- Early favorite for ball of the year.

Drilling them all the same would be a great idea since each ball would still show it's individual unique characteristics.

I wish that was the case! I have a scout high flare urethane that's one of the best hitting balls i've owned. The ball also has an awesome reaction on short patterns and or light oil. However, if the oil is too long and or heavy the ball just slides. This is one ball i will never get rid of! Never go to a tourney without my urethane.
I also have a black urethane hammer from the faball days. Another great ball for lighter oil.

Heavier...
Black Widow Bite drilled 3-1/2 x 3 pin even with ring, 1000 grit Abralon
Medium...
Anger drilled 4-1/2 x 4 pin above ring finger to PAP line, 4000 grit Abralon
Lighter Medium...
Black Widow Venom or Psycho drilled 5-1/2x4 pin over bridge, 4000 Abralon with Zapp It Delay polish
Light...
Emerald or Cherry Vibe pin 1" above bridge, cg in palm, 4000 grit Abralon, Zapp It Delay polish
If you bowl in a center with decent head oil and screaming backends I'd go 2x4 on the Venom instead of the 5-1/2 x 4

As a pro shop owner, I have seen how certain manufacturers do things. Hammer has a tendency to be VERY true to their word. In fact with the exception of the Cherry Vibe being stronger than advertised, I'd say they have been pretty well dead on in recent years.
With that known, and a few conversations with some Hammer reps, I can say with fair assurance that the BW Venom will do just what Hammer says it will.
