Black Widow Impressions

Inverted 1, I will agree with you on the backend.  I just picked up a new Black Widow yesterday and bowled 3 games with it.  I don't know all the techno jargon on the balls & layouts.  I know we drilled mine in Layout #1 for skid/flip.  The pin is above the finger.  There is a weight hole on the side.  I was afraid of a harsh skid/flip, as I saw on a The One ball that I tried.  But this is a much larger arc.  I felt if the lanes were about 5 feet wider it would just come right back to me! So not really skid/flip...more skid/arc.  One concern, as I noticed on a couple of pulled shots that you could almost forget about the pocket if you pull.  If you miss, you better miss wide right (or outside).  Although if I did miss right, it did come back.  So it did open up the lanes for me quite a bit.  Since it was brand new, I was moving around quite a bit just to see what kind of reactions I'd get in different parts of the lane.  Seems like my Real Deal hit a little harder...maybe it was just a different sound.  Overall though, it rolled really smoothly and covered a lot of boards.  I sure am glad I drilled this to go longer.  I can't image what it would be like if I drilled it otherwise.  I also can't image what something like the No Mercy or Hawg Zilla would be like with their claims to be hook monsters.  Looking forward to more time with this on other conditions.

I am in the process of downsizing my equipment to 15 lbs (due to arthritic problems) so I hope this proves to be a fairly versatile ball.  I was hoping to not have to run out and buy "compliments" right away, but based on the reactions I was seeing, I might have to look for something that can handle dry a little better (or at least less hook), much sooner than planned.
